Who you are

- 3-5 years of proven experience in a compliance or quality assurance role in freight brokerage
- Bachelor’s degree in law, finance, business management, or related field
- Demonstrate strong leadership skills

What the job involves
- The Manager of Compliance is responsible for developing and implementing policies and procedures to mitigate compliance risks for the company
- This involves close collaboration with internal management teams to manage company policies, implement an effective compliance program, conduct regular internal audits and monitor carrier performance metrics
- The ultimate goal is to ensure that Flock operates within legal and regulatory frameworks while fostering a culture of compliance and safety
- Oversee the carrier vetting program to ensure they meet Flock’s safety and compliance standards
- Design and implement Flock Freight’s carrier performance program and carrier score carding
- Manage and audit carrier contracts on a regular basis, to ensure they are up-to-date and compliant with legal and regulatory requirements
- Regularly engage with carriers to guarantee they provide safe and compliant services to the company
- Manage the onboarding process using the Highway carrier onboarding software
- Improve top of funnel carrier identity verification product and processes
- Lead initiatives and projects to drive the department towards operational excellence
- Focus on automating processes and increasing efficiency within the Compliance team
- Develop and mentor the team on standard operating procedures to ensure consistency
- Conduct regular internal audits to ensure compliance with company policies and regulatory requirements
- Collaborate with all teams within the Risk Management department to ensure alignment and support other functions where applicable
- Report new areas of opportunity for process improvements to Risk Management leadership
Our take
Many startups are working on solutions for trucking fleet networks to operate with more efficiency, but these are largely focused on logistics over the shipments themselves. An individual truck must be assigned to every single shipment regardless of its size, an inefficiency that results in a large carbon footprint, damage to items, and late deliveries.
Flock Freight provides a trucking shipment management system that allows for a pooling service of multiple shipments to be distributed within a shared truck. This reduces the number of trucks required for a batch of shipments whilst also ensuring that operating trucks are filled to their maximum capacity.
Whilst the majority of innovation in the trucking industry revolves around optimizing logistics to facilitate sustainability within growing fleet sizes, Flock Freight instead focuses on reducing the need for such systems in the first place. Ultimately, this fresh perspective is providing a means for the shipping industry to tackle great inefficiencies in the costs and emissions of their trucking fleets.
