Role
Who you are
- The ideal candidate will have a strong command of corporate finance, an ability to think strategically and operate tactically, and a proven track record of managing projects and partnering at all levels of the business, in a fast-paced environment
- 7+ years of relevant experience in investment banking, private equity, strategic corporate finance, or FP&A, within the streaming media, entertainment, or technology industries
- Proven experience in leading FP&A functions or teams, with a strong track record of driving strategic insights and business outcomes
- Bachelor’s degree from a top-tier institution required
- Exceptional financial modeling, forecasting, and data analysis skills; mastery of Microsoft Excel and fluency in or ability to learn financial tools and business intelligence platforms
- Strong executive presence and communication skills, with experience presenting to senior leadership and external stakeholders
- Ability to navigate ambiguity, manage competing priorities, and thrive in a fast-paced, evolving environment
- Demonstrated ability to thrive in a fast-paced, high-growth environment
What the job involves
- Fubo is seeking a highly strategic and results-oriented Senior Manager or Director of Strategic Finance to lead our financial planning, forecasting, and analytical initiatives across the organization
- This role will be a key asset to the executive team and business unit leaders, driving high-impact decision-making through financial insights, rigorous analysis, and cross-functional collaboration
- We are looking for someone who desires significant ownership, autonomy, and the opportunity to help shape the company's financial direction and strategic trajectory
- Lead the development and implementation of financial models, forecasts, and strategic analyses to support executive decision-making across departments including Marketing, Growth, Advertising, and Content Acquisition
- Collaborate on the company’s budgeting, forecasting, and long-term planning processes, ensuring alignment with company strategy and operational goals
- Provide oversight of cash flow management, identifying risks and opportunities and ensuring financial discipline across the business
- Develop and evolve key FP&A processes, driving efficiency, accuracy, and cross-functional accountability
- Design and lead the creation of executive dashboards and KPI reporting to deliver clear insights into business performance and drivers
- Deliver high-impact financial presentations and materials for the Board of Directors, investors, and executive leadership, including support for earnings calls and strategic planning sessions
- Support Finance team in capital markets and M&A as needed
- Serve as a strategic thought partner to the CFO and executive leadership, identifying business opportunities and financial risks
- Drive cost management initiatives and identify opportunities for operational efficiencies across the company
- Work closely with Accounting team in the monthly close process and maintain reports that provide financial metrics around actual vs forecasted performance
- Support Finance team in ad-hoc analyses
Our take
Fubo is a live sports streaming service that operates in the United States, Canada, France and Spain. It differentiates itself from other sports braodcasters as sitting at the intersection between traditional cable and streaming, positioning itself as a must-have media provider for sports fans, with an internally-built tech stack allowing for instant replays and live interaction with sporting events.
While its core offering has always been in sports, Fubo built up a strong entertainment service, carrying content from numerous other networks and studios. Following its 2020 IPO its stocks rose sharply as a serious contender against older streaming services such as Netflix and Hulu. By the end of 2022 it had an audience of 1.5 million North American subscribers and over $1 billion in annual global revenue.
Despite its strong growth the company has entered a difficult period. Beginning to lose the market share it had taken from its competitors, it is also reducing its entertainment services and withdrawing from the sports betting market with knock-on effects for its share prices. While still a popular service (research from TVision shows ads on Fubo Captured 35% More Attention Than Ads on CTV in General), it remains to be seen if sports fans (and investors) will stay with Fubo in the longer term, especially if it can't thread the needle of profitability in an environment of rising costs and intense competition.
