Who you are
- Focused on writing clear, readable, testable, modular, and monitored code
- Successfully shipped large-scale, consumer-facing mobile and web applications
- Demonstrable knowledge with REST, GRPC, API design patterns, and scalable containerized systems and microservices
- A data-driven focus to provide quality metrics and monitoring
- A Bachelor's degree (or equivalent professional experience) in Computer Science or related engineering field with at least 3 years of hands-on experience
What the job involves
- As a Principal Software Engineer working on the Brand Platform team, you will build tools and features that enable brands and other businesses to grow their presence on the Roblox platform
- You will lead initiatives to help scale our distributed systems while maintaining a safe and secure economy. You will report into our Engineering Manager
- Have direct impact on the future direction of the largest social platform for play, delivering groundbreaking solutions allowing our development teams earn a sustainable living and build experiences for a global community
- Develop backend services that scale to billions of products and transactions in a reliable, secure manner
- Collaborate with our cross-functional team members including those in product, design, data science, and machine learning
- Have real ownership on this team
- Help recruit future talent for the team and mentor junior engineers

In addition to standard games, the platform offers virtual worlds and other experiences to explore and interact with. Its platform provides an online ecosystem for millions to create, socialize, chat, and explore immersive experiences with friends. In fact, in the US its used by two-thirds of children aged 9 to 12.
The experiences on the platform are made by Roblox's over three million creators, and are available on a range of devices from PC to Xbox to Oculus, and more. The company has grown at an impressive rate, and has been keen to adopt new developments in the tech world, for example with its real-time AI translation for players to interact outside their native tongue.
