Role
Who you are
- The ideal candidate has 3+ years of backend development experience and is skilled in PostgreSQL and microservices architecture
- 3+ years of hands-on backend development experience in production environments
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related technical field
- Familiarity with Python is a plus—especially if you’ve shipped production code using it
- Strong proficiency with relational databases, particularly PostgreSQL
- Experience designing, building, and maintaining microservices, ideally in Dockerized environments (e.g., AWS ECS, EKS)
- Solid understanding of RESTful API design principles and asynchronous communication using message brokers like RabbitMQ or Kafka
- Proven ability to write and review technical design documents and implement scalable APIs in service-oriented architectures
What the job involves
- We're looking for an experienced Software Engineer to join our Backend team
- In this role, you'll help design and develop backend systems, work on system architecture, and build event-driven microservices
- You'll also collaborate on API integrations and contribute to products that impact thousands of users
- Develop and maintain core backend services within Lendbuzz’s microservices infrastructure in a fast-paced, high-ownership environment
- Drive cross-functional impact by building scalable infrastructure used horizontally across multiple product teams
- Build deep technical and business understanding, resisting specialization silos to stay adaptable and valuable across domains
- Partner with engineers to architect system frameworks for new product and platform initiatives
- Research, prototype, and implement tools that enhance backend service performance and reliability
- Upgrade and maintain microservice ecosystems, including database infrastructure and deployment workflows
- Design and develop internal tooling while ensuring clean integration with third-party APIs and services
- Contribute to the lifecycle of customer-facing products—expansion, testing, release—ensuring stability and measurable impact
Our take
On a mission to help individuals currently underserved by the traditional credit system, Lendbuzz is an automobile finance platform that uses machine learning and AI to help consumers with little to no credit history access financing when buying a car.
Research found that nearly two thirds of consumers want to improve their credit scores, likely because it’s deemed the only way to access loans and credit cards. Whilst banks and traditional lenders assess credit based on FICO scores, Lendbuzz finds new signals and other relevant data to assess a person’s credit worthiness.
$100 million in lending capital from Mitsubishi UFJ Financial Group is fuelling more warehouse capacity for Lendbuzz's loan origination growth. It has secured its substantial investment thanks to a prolonged period of high performance, having established a year-on-year loan originations growth of more than 100% per annum.
