- 2 years of experience as a Business Development Representative/Sales Development Representative in SaaS/PaaS
- Experience exceeding quotas
- Strong sales/client origination experience, preferably with CMS / DXP / MarTech experience
- Experience negotiating large strategic deals including all phases of client development: prospecting, proposal development, negotiation and ongoing relationship management
- Experience and the know-how to work in a start-up, fast paced technology environment
- Strong understanding of the SaaS / PaaS business model for solutions delivery
- Confident presentation skills, and must have 'presence' in front of the C-suite customer with the communications skills to articulate a value proposition to a wide range of organizational and functional levels
What the job involves
- Identify new business opportunities within our top competitor customer base, lead, and close deals in Acquia’s Growth / Sales Market
- Engage with senior level executives within these organizations
- Develop positive relationships and identify prospect needs at all decision-making levels
- Stay current on competitor offerings and be able to identify their strengths and vulnerabilities
- Turn client feedback into meaningful strategies to drive new business and address competitive risks
- Influence client decisions and advocate for client needs to broker win-win solutions
- Work closely with various functional teams including Product Development, Account Management and Project Management teams to ensure seamless implementation and effective ongoing account growth
- Handle full-life cycle sales in an individual contributor environment
- Collaborate efficiently across internal teams and nurture an atmosphere of trust and open communication
- Engage with our channel partners and various subject matter specialists to drive sales opportunities
- Travel to client and partner meetings as needed
- Work cross-functionally with demand generation and marketing teams to cultivate pipeline
Our take
Acquia’s digital experience platform was borne out of the Drupal Project, a popular free and open source software used to develop core content management systems. Drupal creator Dries Buytaert co-founded Acquia in 2007 in a bid to commercialise the software separately.
Considering that Acquia now counts Warner Music Group, NBC Sports, and Johnson & Johnson among its clients, and was acquired by Vista Equity Partner for $1 billion in 2019, it’s fair to say it’s been a success thus far. Indeed, the fact that Vista has a reputation for acquiring what it sees as “undervalued” companies says a lot about Acquia’s true worth.
Since the 2019 acquisition, Acquia has accelerated its growth and international expansion across the US, Canada, Europe, Australia, and Asia. It also acquired digital asset and product information management company Widen in 2021, proving its determination to keep adding to its product offering. It added new AI features to its digital asset management solution in 2024, doubling down in the face of an increasingly competitive market.
