Who you are
- Several years of experience working in an asset management company, bank, insurance company, or auditing or auditing firm
- Professional background in legal, commercial, or business administration, ideally with tax knowledge (including Legal, administrative, or banking or insurance qualifications)
- Experience in risk management and compliance including ESG knowledge (required) and experience with DORA (desirable)
- Strong affinity for numbers, structures, and processes
- Business-level proficiency in both German and English
What the job involves
- We’re looking for an experienced Senior Risk and Compliance Manager (m/f/d) to join our Risk Management & Regulatory Affairs Department to drive processes and make meaningful impact by ensuring we transform bold ideas into responsible growth
- The ideal candidate brings experience in adding structure within highly regulated organisations and thrives on managing processes in complex environments. This role is crucial for Project A to turn visionary ventures into responsible success stories that shape a better, more sustainable future
- Manage risk and compliance processes in a licensed asset management company with more than ten closed-end “Spezial-AIFs”
- Strengthen the Risk Management & Regulatory Affairs Department through enhancing reporting and processes in the areas of risk management, ESG compliance, and outsourcing controlling
- Actively communicate with external service providers and outsourcing companies, as well as with internal front- and back-office units
- Conduct ESG due diligence on investments in portfolio companies while also supporting the Investment Team with ESG-related documentation
- Create and continuously maintain SFDR disclosures and ESG policies
- Drive the development of new and ongoing risk and compliance reporting
- Continuously enhance risk management and regulatory compliance across multiple front and back office units
- Be at the interface between Project A and its regulated UK subsidiary
Our take
Founded in 2012, German investment company Project A Ventures works across pre-seed to Series A financing for, among others, the fintech, commerce, enterprise software, data, and climate tech spaces. Having itself raised significant funding, Project A has predicted and supported the rise of some of the biggest companies in the digital space.
Investments by Project A have included the likes of Trade Republic and Kry, who have achieved valuations of multiple billions of dollars. Investment from Project A is the key behind all of these companies and an understanding of business potential seems to be at the heart of Project A.
Whilst the general economic climate may have shifted towards the negative in 2022, renewed investments are still key to Project A’s ethos. With preparation underway for bumpy roads for its current portfolio, Project A is using its 2022 round of funding to invest in new companies, despite the financial downturn. This is because it focuses on the long-term health of companies, rather than quick boosts, and this methodology will no doubt help Project A’s next round of investments reach the potential that the venture firm sees in them.
