Staff Database Reliability Engineer, Ro

• Strong experience with Postgres
• Strong scripting and automation skills in Python, Go, or Bash
• Proficiency in performance tuning, query optimization, and indexing strategies
• Hands-on experience with IaC (e.g. Terraform, Pulumi)
• Solid understanding of AWS cloud services, with specific expertise in and experience with RDS
• Familiarity with observability and monitoring tools (e.g. Datadog, Splunk)
• Understanding of high availability, clustering, and disaster recovery strategies
• Experience implementing database backup, restore, and replication strategies
• Knowledge of CI/CD workflows and database change management
• Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work in a fast-paced, privacy- and security-focused environment

• We are seeking a Database Reliability Engineer (DBRE) with strong Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) skills to join our team
• This role will focus on ensuring the performance, scalability, availability, and reliability of our database systems while driving automation, observability, and operational excellence
• You will collaborate closely with SREs, software engineers, and security teams to enhance database reliability through best practices and innovative solutions
• Design, implement, and maintain highly available, scalable, and resilient database systems
• Develop and apply SRE principles to database operations, including monitoring, observability, incident response, and automation
• Optimize database performance and query tuning to improve efficiency and reduce latency
• Automate database provisioning, backups, and schema changes using Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) tools
• Ensure effective database replication, clustering, failover mechanisms, and disaster recovery strategies
• Establish and enforce database security best practices, including access control and encryption
• Collaborate with software engineers to design database schemas and indexing strategies that align with application needs
• Drive database infrastructure improvements using CI/CD pipelines and automated deployment strategies
• Participate and manage on-call rotations and provide expert guidance during incidents and post-mortems
