What the job involves
- We are expanding our 12 product teams (90+ back-end, front-end and full-stack developers) and are looking for a talented addition to our Monetization team, who is a wizard with Typescript and has experience with modern React
- Marketplace team's mission is to increase revenue by growing our subscriber base and running experiments to keep improving our model. The team is responsible for uploads and payments in 28+ countries for millions of users. Which we believe is quite cool
- You will be working with our designers and back-end developers to create responsive pages that provide Studocu’s users with the best possible experience. We are keen to join hands with someone whose hunger for technology is only matched by a motivation to solve difficult problems fast, efficiently, and with a keen eye for design
- You will collaborate closely with your team, which consists of an Engineering Manager, a Product Manager, a Designer and other developers to come up with user-oriented solutions
- You will be involved in the full development cycle from refinement, through implementation, to code review
- You will be responsible for leading certain projects tied to our Objective Key Results and frontend migration projects of the team
- You will work in two-week sprints, and participate in standups, refinements and retros
- You will have the opportunity to share and apply your knowledge and expertise on technical topics while coaching other developers and presenting at our Learning & Development talks
- You will be helping to build a product that aids many millions of students worldwide to excel in their courses
Our take
High quality notes and resources are necessary at every level of education, but at times personal notes can be incomplete or missing details. The founders of Studocu have created a platform that allows students to share notes, resources and study materials, that now holds materials from universities across the world.
With millions of users every month accessing the platform, there is undeniable demand for Studocu's services. Much of the company's popularity may be ascribed to its freemium model, which keeps 85% of its content free to access. The other 15% can be accessed by students who either upload their own study materials or pay a fee.
Studocu has seen impressive investment which has enabled it to expand substantially. It also acquired Studybees, its German counterpart, to support this expansion. In 2024, Erasmus University Rotterdam filed a lawsuit against the company which will be interesting to follow, as it surrounds whether Studocu should have to proactively screen materials for copyright breaches, rather than its current report/takedown approach.
