Who you are
- Alignment with our Core Values
- For the last 3+ years, led the project or program management of technical teams in a comparable role, such as Scrum Master, Product Owner, Program Manager, or Technical Team Lead
- Agile and Scrum are a big part of how you organize and enable teams, and you use other tools or frameworks to keep yourself and your teams very organized, efficient, and productive
- Scrum Master Certification is a must and Project Management Certification such as PMP would be an asset
- Pro-user of Atlassian tools, with deep knowledge of all the ins and outs of of Jira and Confluence
- Keen understanding on how to measure team velocity and instill technical performance improvement within development teams
- Deep understanding of technical requirements and able to successfully scope them to ability and capacity of the team
- Confident navigating between the big picture view of the business to the details view of the team
- Demonstrated success with innovation and new product development while maintaining a V1 product with live customers
- Experience as an engineer is beneficial
- Finely honed project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
- Facilitate collaboration and brainstorming as a leader where participants feel included and heard
- Excellent written, verbal, and presentation communication skills in English to both technical and non-technical audiences of all kinds
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or Engineering preferred or equivalent experience
- Able to work full time and currently authorized to work in Canada (anywhere in Canada works for us as long as you’re able to overlap from 8 AM to 1 PM Pacific time)
What the job involves
- Performing the Scrum Management duties for each of the teams in the assigned product areas (which we call Pods)
- Effectively scanning, tweaking, and reporting on sprint execution so that the team transparently knows assignments and statuses in order to collaborate effectively
- Creating story maps, providing team dashboards, and keeping track of retrospective ideas and action items in tools of choice
- Coaching each of the teams on breaking down work into clear sprint objectives, outlining clear outcomes, and reviewing those outcomes together to inform future work
- Encouraging team members to reveal and challenge predefined ideas about Scrum role boundaries and responsibilities, empowering the team to delegate decisions and tasks within the team within a defined scope
- Role-modeling and reminding the teams of the importance of the four values and twelve principles of the Agile Manifesto on a daily basis in order to foster trust and psychological safety
- Owning and driving sprint, definition, execution, and reviews, assuring that the value of the work in the sprint is understood by the team and the “how” is clearly set, which includes:
- Participating in roadmap discussions to advise on feasibility and sequence of product roadmap development
- Collaborating with the Product Owners and other stakeholders in facilitating sprint planning
- Promoting progress and removing blockers
- Escalating blockers that are outside of the team's ability to resolve when possible
- Reviewing opportunities for improvement with the team during retrospectives, translating the discussions into a clear set of action items that can be executed by the teams, or escalating as needed
- Providing visibility of progress and bottlenecks to internal stakeholders such as the Directors of Engineering, Product Management, Engineering Team Leads, and others as needed, highlighting:
- Updates on current delivery status of each team
- Alignment of the various teams in meeting the overall objectives
- Address any blocking technical issues, capacity issues, or scheduling issues that require cross-team coordination
- Identification of any software process issues and deficiencies to be addressed along with their implementation plan
- Ensuring that assigned software process for the teams are well documented, implemented, and executed, specifically:
- Selecting, configuring, and managing software tools including JIRA and Confluence for the teams
- Implementing and updating team dashboards
- Training the team to use tools autonomously
- Providing reporting and analytics of each of the product development divisions (which we call Pods) performance and milestone tracking and reporting against approved roadmap
- Tracking software performance metrics within the teams, analyzing and reporting on KPIs such as ROI
- Verifying documentation is thorough and completed
- Acting as an informed point of contact for communicating the status of sprints with stakeholders
- Producing FinOps Reporting for your teams’ systems
- Owning AWS cost reporting, monitoring, and alerting
- Working with Engineers to identify opportunities to optimize our spend
- Supporting a culture of security awareness, safeguarding, and compliance with our policies and best practices to maintain Pagefreezer’s customers’ trust
