Role
Who you are
- We are looking for candidates with a passion for people operations and broad people experience, preferably have worked in both in rapidly scaling start-ups and larger companies, ideally with at least one instance of mandated government compliance (i.e. FAR, ITAR)
- Bachelors Degree or HR certificate and related equivalent experience
- 10+ years of experience in People Operations/HR Operations, with deep expertise in benefits and hris, and a proven track record of scaling and optimizing global HR processes and programs
- 3+ year experience leading a people or talent team
- You have deep understanding of people operations lifecycles including compliance, processes , analytics and tools
- You have led an HRIS investigation and implementation, considering company growth and capabilities required over time, and partnering closely with finance and it teams
- You have directly partnered with benefits brokers to reimagine benefit design and offerings and prepared and presented financial analysis for c-level consideration and decision. You are skilled at breaking down the costs and communicating the best decisions for the business over time
- You articulate and demonstrate your passion for AI through use of various tools and constant learning
- You have a strong understanding of HR policies, processes, and various legal requirements to ensure compliance and operational excellence. Defense technology experience a big plus
- You have a passion for workflows, efficiency, and consistency, paired with a meticulous attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple complex projects simultaneously
- You have demonstrated the ability to align company needs with HR best practices, while crafting frameworks that are tailored to the company’s unique culture and growth trajectory
- You use discretion and sound judgment in handling sensitive information and making decisions that affect both individuals and the organization
- You have an understanding through experience of both building from the ground up and strategically scaling operations as the company grows
- You have a proactive problem-solving mindset, anticipating challenges and addressing potential risks before they escalate
- You take a data-driven approach to decision-making, using both employee feedback and metrics to inform People initiatives and measure their impact
- You have proven experience in building cross-functional partnerships and influencing stakeholders at all levels of the organization to drive alignment and results

What the job involves
- As the Director of People Operations at True Anomaly, you will lead the People Operations function and team while working closely with cross-functional teams to design, refine, and evolve People Team processes and programs.
- Your goal will be to create an efficient and meaningful employee experience, ensuring people systems, processes, and resources align with the company’s strategic objectives and growth.
- This role requires extensive knowledge of HR best practices, operational excellence, and a collaborative approach to improving efficiency and meeting the business’s evolving needs.
- You will report to the Chief People Officer and manage a team of two.
- This is a hands-on role that requires ability to be deep in operations while thinking with a big picture mindset
- Develop and execute HR operational strategies to streamline and improve processes throughout the employee lifecycle
- Lead the design, implementation, and documentation of HR initiatives and projects, ensuring they align with organizational goals and promote operational efficiency
- Oversee HR projects from initiation to completion, ensuring they are delivered on time and with active stakeholder involvement
- Develop detailed project plans, document procedures, allocate resources, manage budgets, and provide regular updates to stakeholders
- Identify and implement scalable, cost-effective solutions to boost the efficiency of the People Team, focusing on building infrastructure, increasing automation, and responsibly leveraging AI to streamline operations
- Manage HR audits and compliance processes, ensuring adherence to FAR, local labor laws, and internal policies, while maintaining a strong control environment and promoting continuous process improvement
- Define and administer People Team service delivery by refining processes for quick, accurate, and compassionate responses to employee inquiries. Use metrics and feedback to drive ongoing improvements in service effectiveness
- Optimize HR technologies, tools, and systems to streamline operations and enhance overall efficiency in people-related processes
- Manage the contractor program including but not limited to vendor agreements, contractor tracking, onboarding and offboarding
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including Talent Acquisition, HR Business Partners, Finance, Legal and IT, to ensure programs are aligned along with business needs
- Contribute to the design and implementation of HR programs that support organizational goals and boost employee engagement
- Lead, mentor, and develop a team of HR professionals
- Near Term Projects You Will Lead in the next 6 months;
- Assess timing, tools and lead program(s) design to evolve from a PEO to administering benefits, HRIS and payroll in-house
- Examine and enhance our employee onboarding journey to ensure the best possible experience
Our take
True Anomaly is a space tech startup composed of former military operators and engineers. The Colorado-based company is focused on building spacecraft and software solutions designed to secure U.S. commercial and military interests in space. It has already developed a fully-integrated platform with seamless satellite, navigation, and data-capture technologies that provide security and training for the quickly evolving space market.
Founded in 2022, True Anomaly has already designed its first spacecraft, the Jackal Autonomous Orbital Vehicle, which can be used to train operators on the ground or as intelligence-gathering tools against adversarial spacecraft. Alongside this, the startup has built a 35,000-square-foot facility in Denver to manufacture the Jackals.
With impressive capital gained in 2023 and 2025, the company validated the Jackal's technical and operational capabilities and made the necessary investments to scale production. And with its most recent capital injection, the company is ready to fund space missions and further scale its operations.
