Role
Who you are
- 7+ years of experience in commercial sales roles with a focus on both key account management and fast-turn sales via distributors or resellers
- Experience working with (or for) a promotional merchandise distributor / agency
- A natural ability to lead by example, inspire confidence, and bring a high-performance mindset to those around you
- A strong commercial mindset, a focus on short term wins while progressing longer term large opportunities
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the confidence to engage senior buyers and stakeholders
- Advanced CRM knowledge (preferably HubSpot), including pipeline management and reporting
- Proven track record of exceeding revenue targets and scaling commercial operations

What the job involves
- As we approach the next stage of growth, we’re looking for a UK & EU Promo Lead to join our Commercial team. The purpose of this role is to be the main point of contact for our wholesaler and top distributor account managers across the UK and EU
- Building revenue-driving relationships across the wholesaler and distributor account managers
- Craft compelling propositions for end companies which convert larger opportunities and inspire others
- Understand and confidently position our proposition to end brands / companies. This is not just ‘another retail water bottle’
- Own the order process even through 3rd parties
- Accurately maintain your busy pipeline of opportunities in HubSpot
- Support the Head of Promo in the ongoing development of the approach to promo in the UK & EU
- Bring a structured and strategic sales methodology to the work you do
- Identify opportunities to improve our operations, processes, and systems to unlock further growth
- Identify areas where we could accelerate growth and what would be needed to achieve this
- Representing Ocean Bottle with impact, enthusiasm, and clarity across both customer and internal stakeholder conversation
- Travel up to 25%
- What good looks like:
- Quickly utilise Ocean Bottles' proposition, supply chain / stock and existing relationships to drive sales out on core line and initiate larger custom opportunities
- Proactively develop and execute tailored growth plans for each key account, identifying new ways to drive focus on Ocean Bottle filling the pipeline with qualified and winnable opportunities
- Build and nurture strong relationships with account managers, ensuring partners feel supported, valued, and aligned with Ocean Bottle’s mission and goals
- Always connect the commercial opportunity back to positive environmental and social impact, helping partners unlock the power of their purchase beyond the product
Salary benchmarks
Our take
Ocean Bottle sells reusable water bottles that each funds the collection of 1,000 ocean-bound plastic bottles in impoverished coastal communities. As plastic pollution is worst in these places, and recycling infrastructure isn't present, the company offers a solution where plastic collectors can exchange plastic waste for money or credit, verified using blockchain technology. Through its partner, The Plastic Bank, the funds contribute to building much-needed infrastructure and paying the local impoverished coastal communities a fair living wage to collect this plastic.
The bottles have been designed in partnership with K8 Design and have received a bevy of design awards, including the 2020 Green Product and Red Dot Design awards. The bottle comes embedded with an NFC chip, which allows owners to track refills and the amount of plastic they are preventing from entering the ocean. The associated app allows cafes, gyms and restaurants to list as refill stations which increases their visibility and gives them the opportunity to offer discounts to further drive business.
Since launching in January 2019 Ocean Bottle partnered with brands including Pangai, Red Bull, and Universal Music. It has also collected over 9M kilograms of plastic to date and improved livelihoods at the same time. So far, the company has prevented over 1B bottles from reach the ocean and hoppes to bump that number up to 7B by the end of 2025. Its an ambitious goal but one that brings hope and excitement for the future.
