Role
Who you are
- 2–5 years in Solutions Engineering, Technical Sales, Customer Success, or a related SaaS role
- Hands-on experience with the full technical sales cycle — discovery, solution design, and proof-of-value execution
- Strong discovery and value-based selling skills, with the ability to craft a compelling demo narrative
- Comfort with RESTful APIs (or genuine eagerness to learn)
- A track record of working effectively across Sales, Product, and Marketing teams
- The ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-moving environment without dropping the ball
- Outstanding written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills
- Willingness to travel up to 30% as needed

What the job involves
- Checkr’s Solutions Engineering team is a strategic partner to our Sales and Implementation teams. They are responsible for working with our most complex prospects to design and develop unique solutions that enhance trust and safety in the hiring process
- Solutions Engineers at Checkr are experienced problem solvers with a background in Solutions Engineering, Sales, Customer Success, Technical Account Management, and Client Consulting, and understand how technology delivers business value
- You will be responsible for providing pre-sales support for our most valuable prospects and partners
- This isn't a traditional pre-sales role. You'll work consultatively with business leaders, design solutions to real-world challenges, and serve as a trusted expert on safe and fair hiring
- If you love solving hard problems, telling compelling stories, and seeing your work directly impact how companies hire, this role is for you. As a Solutions Engineer, you will strategically partner with the Sales team to:
- Own the technical sale — Partner closely with Sales to navigate complex deals, from first discovery call to signed contract, ensuring prospects see Checkr's full value
- Earn trust at every level — Meet with executives and operators alike, tailoring your message to each audience and building relationships that last beyond the sales cycle
- Bring solutions to life — Design and deliver world-class product demos, POCs/pilots, solution architectures, and proposals that speak directly to prospect needs
- Be the expert in the room — Educate prospects on safe hiring best practices, answer technical and compliance questions, and position Checkr as the clear industry leader
- Shape the product — Distill customer feedback into actionable insights for our R&D teams, helping drive a roadmap that reflects what the market actually needs
- Spot the big picture — Identify trends across verticals and help keep Checkr ahead of the curve
- Amplify our story — Partner with Marketing on case studies, use cases, and events that showcase what's possible with Checkr

Our take
Checkr addresses the unpleasant and time consuming process of background checks so that companies using on-demand employees can make safer, more informed hiring decisions in less time. Background checks are a critical part of the hiring process, and CEO Daniel Yannisse noticed that they were painfully slow, resulting in loss of work for candidates and productivity downturns for employers.
Before Checkr entered the market in 2014 with its innovative AI technology and a solid $50m in venture capital funding, companies were waiting upwards of two weeks for their checks. Checkr substantially reduces this time frame and has grown to receive a $5 billion valuation.
Checkr has accelerated growth by making several highly advantageous acquisitions of competitor companies GoodHire and Inflection. As the world of work embraces diversity and inclusion, the company announced an end-to-end service for candidates wishing to expunge their criminal records, furthering the company’s ‘fair chance’ mission and clearing 1000s of candidates for free since 2021. New products launched at the end of 2023 include Checkr Pay (providing access to payment right after a shift) and Checkr Onboard (unified onboarding processes), exemplifying how Checkr is keeping pace with a rapidly changing, flexible, and mobile-first workforce.
