Who you are
- The successful candidate will be comfortable operating with minimal supervision, quickly identifying the key issues and communicating legal advice in a way that engages non-legal stakeholders

- You are a qualified solicitor in England and Wales or Scotland, with experience gained in private practice, in-house, or both
- You are comfortable working independently

- You can get to the point quickly and explain legal concepts in a clear, concise and commercial way
- You enjoy building relationships and influencing decision-making across non-legal teams

What the job involves
- We’re looking for a commercially-minded Legal Counsel (from NQ level onwards) to join our legal team, reporting directly to the General Counsel
- This is an opportunity for a solicitor who enjoys working autonomously, taking ownership of legal matters and partnering with colleagues across the business to deliver practical outcomes
- You’ll help support a company transforming the wealth tech sector, providing clear and usable legal advice that enables innovation while appropriately managing risk
- On a typical day you will…
- Provide pragmatic legal advice to support the day-to-day running of the Seccl business
- Advise on a broad range of legal matters including financial services regulation, contract law, pensions law, data protection, employment law and intellectual property rights
- Draft, review and negotiate commercial contracts with suppliers, client firms, customers and other third parties
- Partner with product, technology, operations and commercial teams on strategic initiatives and new propositions
- Identify and manage legal risks while supporting business growth and innovation
- Support corporate governance and company secretarial activities where required
- Managing external counsel when appropriate
- Develop practical legal processes, templates and guidance that scale with the business

- Interviewing is a two-way thing, and we want you to have the time and opportunity to get to know us, as much as we are getting to know you. Our interviews are conversational, so come with questions and be curious
- In general, you can expect the interview process to look a bit like this, (following an initial chat with one of our Talent team):
- First stage – 45 mins competencies-based interview with the hiring manager and a member of the People team
- Second stage – one-hour technical interview or assessment with the CRO and hiring manager
- Final stage – 45 mins bar-raiser culture-based interview
