Role
Who you are
- 3+ years of hands-on software development experience building APIs and microservices
- Exposure to modern frontend frameworks such as React, Next
- Experience with Typescript/JS/Node.js and/or Python/Django (strong proficiency in either one, exposure to the other)
- Strong debugging skills and experience with unit, integration, and end-to-end testing, as well as using CI/CD systems
- Excellent communication skills, both written (technical documentation) and verbal (articulating technical ideas clearly both technical and non-technical audiences)
- A passion for collaboration and a desire to thrive in a fast-paced environment
Desirable
- Exposure to alerting, logging, and monitoring frameworks
- Solid understanding of database management and object-oriented programming
- BS/MS degree in Computer Science or something equivalent
What the job involves
- Our org is responsible for building and maintaining the eligibility systems and the enrollment experiences for our growing enterprise & SME customer base, as well as building partnership integrations for strategic partnerships
- This role in particular is for the partnerships team wherein you'll be tasked with prototyping, architecting, and executing on the creation of our enterprise platform, and be integral in the B2B org’s continued growth
- We are also big on sharing knowledge, helping each other learn and get better, and you will see frequent mini-tech talks throughout the year
- Being on the Headspace engineering team, you’ll be working on a product that impacts more than 65M users
- You will help us bring new features to life to meet our mission, while also helping push our platform to newer technologies as we embrace the cutting edge
- Impact Millions: Your work can impact over 65 million users, contributing to our mission of improving mental health worldwide
- Design and develop high-volume, low-latency applications for mission-critical systems
- Write well designed, testable, performant, and efficient code
- Contribute in all phases of the development lifecycle, from collaborating with product stakeholders, writing tech specs & RFCs, to feature release and operations
- Build APIs, primarily on Typescript/Node.js and Python/Django for our AWS-based services
- Work with product and engineering teams to release services that operate at our high scale

The world is facing a growing mental health crisis. In 2022, the US saw the proportion of the population with acute anxiety, depression, or other mental health needs grow from 20% to 40%.
Headspace is a digital mental health platform best known for its guided meditation and mindfulness app, which has expanded into a broader suite of mental health services. Through therapy, coaching, meditation, and self-care tools, the company is making mental health support more accessible and preventative.
In 2021, Headspace merged with on-demand mental healthcare provider Ginger in a $3B deal to form Headspace Health, a move that brings clinical care and everyday mental wellness into a single platform. Today, its services are being used by more than 100M people and over 4,000 enterprises, including Starbucks, Adobe, and Paramount.
Demand for virtual mental healthcare continues to rise, and the market is becoming increasingly competitive, with players such as Hims & Hers Health entering the space. However, Headspace stands out by combining clinical care with everyday mental wellness tools, expanding its offerings through strategic acquisitions like AI health firm Sayana, and now bringing its services directly to businesses in the UK, positioning itself for growth bon a global scale.
