Who you are

We're seeking someone who brings strong engineering rigor to the front-end — while also having an eye for design and the willingness to work closely with our design team to translate research and prototypes into user-friendly products
This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a collaborative environment, enjoys ownership from start to finish, and values thoughtful design and high-quality implementation
Strong proficiency in React, TypeScript, and modern frontend tooling (we use Vite, Vitest, and Tailwind CSS)
Experience working with REST APIs to power dynamic frontend applications
Comfort using Figma and partnering with designers to implement component libraries and responsive layouts
A strong product mindset — you care not just about how things work, but how they feel to the user
Demonstrated ability to independently own and deliver frontend features in a production setting
Typically requires a minimum of 5 years of related experience with a Bachelor’s degree; or 3 years and a Master’s degree; or a PhD without experience

Desirable

Familiarity with backend technologies like Python, or deployment tooling such as Docker, Kubernetes, and Helm
Experience working on developer tools, mechanical engineering platforms, or high-security applications (e.g., in aerospace or defense)
Familiarity with documentation sites like Docusaurus or low-code tools like Webflow

What the job involves

We're looking for a Senior Front-end Engineer to join our growing Product Engineering team at Istari Digital
In this role, you’ll be a key contributor to our platform frontend, building interfaces that are not only functional and performant but beautifully designed and deeply usable
Own the full lifecycle of frontend feature delivery — from shaping and spec’ing to design, implementation, testing, and release
Collaborate with customers, partner teams, and engineering managers to gather requirements and build impactful features
Work closely with our Head of Design and other engineers to bring user research to life, implement UI components that follow our design schema, and ensure consistent UX across the platform
Maintain high engineering standards for performance, security, maintainability, and velocity across the frontend codebase
Contribute to team-wide engineering practices, mentoring peers, reviewing code, and evolving our frontend architecture

In the realm of digital engineering, industries like aerospace, defense, and manufacturing face significant challenges. Traditional methods lof designing, testing, and certifiying complex systems are often time-consuming, costly, and environmentally tacxing. These processes typically require physical prototypes and extensive real-world testing, leading to delays and increased resource consumption.

Istari is transforming this landscape by developing aplatform that enables the creation, testing, and certification of technologies entirely in the digital real. Its advanced digital twin technology allows for virtual simulations and modeling, reducing the need for physical prototypes. This approach not only accelerates development timelines but also minimized costs and environmental impact.

Its making major progress too, including the $19M contract with the US Air Force to help develop the world's first digitally certified aircraft. While the use of digital twins in military applications (especially with potential links to autonomous systems) can raise valid ethical concerns, Istari's focus is on safety, precision, and reducing the need for real-world testing that can be risky or wasteful. By improving how complex systems are designed and certifies, its aiming to make engineering across industries more efficient and sustainable.
