Role

Who you are

  • 5+ years of experience in a quota-carrying enterprise sales position at a database company or established open-source technology company or a mature public cloud service provider
  • Willingness to get your hands dirty to prospect, engage clients and help build our sales playbook
  • A customer-friendly sales professional with a strong ability to accelerate customers' timelines and with a track record of building up and winning large opportunities
  • Experience and willingness to strive in a startup environment with a strong appetite to streamline and simplify work-streams and processes
  • Experience in the Start Up / Scale Up phase of a Technology Vendor is advantageous
  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science is strongly preferred, but not a disqualifying requirement
  • Willingness to travel to customer sites as needed

What the job involves

  • Segment territory to optimize your pipeline generation effort
  • Drive market awareness and generate qualified leads in lighthouse accounts
  • Follow-up promptly and effectively on marketing leads
  • Forecast, track customer activity in internal systems, update management in a timely fashion to help collectively drive success
  • Learn what matters to key personas involved in the selection of a new database
  • Get buy-in on our technical and business value proposition with client stakeholders
  • Progress sales cycles by aligning with core client needs and conveying compelling narratives
  • Close deals to meet quota objectives and help document customer success stories
  • Share your experience and learning in the field (needs, requirements, objections, competition) to help mature our sales plays and remove adoption hurdles
  • Accountable for individual expense budget management

Our take

Frustrations with the available database solutions are what inspired PingCAP. When three infrastructure engineers got together, their aim was to eliminate the issues with management, scalability and maintenance of databases by creating their own open source distributed database.

With worldwide contributions from like-minded developers, the cloud-based NewSQL database TiDB was created. It soon gained great popularity and so, being open source, is constantly being enhanced.

With the creation of a product that eradicates the problems faced when attempting to scale up traditional relational databases, a wealth of data migration tools and no vendor lock-in, TiDB is an attractive proposition for businesses that need future flexibility. Notable clients include China Zheshang Bank, PatSnap and leading Asian logistics company Ninja Van.

With the backing of $270 million Series D funding in 2020, TiDB continues to grow, and a portfolio of complementary products is in development. It also gained positive publicity from its receiving the award for Open Source Data Solution Provider of the Year from the Data Breakthrough Awards 2024.
