Role
Who you are
- 5+ years of cloud experience in a IaaS, PaaS or SaaS stack
- Experience building and supporting enterprise-grade products as product manager
- Experience building, writing and defending a clear product roadmap and backlog backed by user stories and customer research
- Excellent communication skills and experience working in a collaborative and consensus-driven environment
- Ability to build relationships with co-workers and customers located around the world
- Demonstrated ability to drive business outcomes through product changes
- Hands-on experience with at least one of the major Cloud Provider (AWS, Azure, GCP)
- Multi-cloud or hybrid experience a plus
What the job involves
- As a product manager on the Platform team, you will be responsible for building and evolving our cloud management experience for the most cloud-native and complete data streaming offering in the industry
- With 4 products closely intertwined and all real-time, Confluent Cloud customers need a more seamless management experience across products
- You will own and drive the vision, strategy and execution for cloud management features
- You're focused on solving highest impact customer problems
- Own cloud management roadmap & strategy
- You're familiar with typical enterprise requirements to move to the cloud & manage their resources
- Collect cloud management customers' requirements
- You're at ease leading cross-functional teams to get alignment and move forward
- Develop product specifications for cloud management features
- Align design, product and engineering teams
- Collaborate with marketing & the field to launch cloud management features
Our take
Confluent is a commercial company built on top of the open-source Apache Kafka project. Confluent and Kafka have developed a streaming data technology that processes massive amounts of information in real-time.
The streaming database technology was developed at LinkedIn as a way of moving massive amounts of messages. The company decided to open-source that tech in 2011, and Confluent launched as the commercial arm in 2014.
While the base open-source component remains available for free download, it doesn’t include the additional tooling the company has built to make it easier for enterprises to use Kafka. Confluent's value add is in those additional tools, including a cloud version of the product and a marketplace for sharing extensions to the platform.
Confluent expanded strategic partnerships with Microsoft and acquired Immerok, and in 2023 expanded its cloud platform. 2024 saw further product expansions with the launch of the Confluent Migration Accelerator, all exemplifying how the company is living up to its name by rocket-boosting the benefits of Apache Kafka integration for companies.
