Who you are
- Possesses 5+ Years of Applied Experience: Has over five years of experience working as a data engineer, analytics engineer, data scientist, analyst or other highly analytical, data-oriented roles, demonstrating a deep understanding and practical application of analytical skills
- Has a Background in Startups : Exhibits high interest in startups and fast-paced environments and is always looking for ways to improve
- Has Experience with Predictive Modeling: Has hands-on experience developing and implementing predictive models, using data to forecast trends, identify opportunities, and support strategic decision-making
- Exhibits Strong Database Governance and Management Skills: Demonstrates expertise in database governance and management, ensuring data integrity, accuracy, and accessibility across various systems
- Understands Data Security Principles: Has a thorough understanding of data security principles and best practices, ensuring the protection of sensitive information and compliance with relevant regulations
- Creates Concise and Informative Data Presentations: Skilled in creating clear, concise, and informative data presentations, effectively communicating complex insights to key stakeholders and leadership
- Highly Organized, Proactive, and Efficient: Is highly organized, proactive, and able to manage multiple projects simultaneously. Capable of prioritizing tasks effectively to meet deadlines, ensuring efficient and timely completion of projects
What the job involves
- We are looking for a dynamic and skilled Data Engineer/Analyst to join our team as our first dedicated data hire
- This role is crucial for driving our data strategy and expanding our data capabilities
- You will be responsible for managing and enhancing our data pipeline, integrating new data sources, maintaining our data infrastructure, and transforming data into actionable insights for the entire organization
- As the Lead Data Analytics Engineer, you will handle a wide range of responsibilities, from managing BI tool dashboards to ensuring data security and governance
- You will work closely with various teams to meet their data needs, helping to inform strategic decisions and drive growth
- Your ability to present data in a clear, digestible manner will be key to our success
- The Data Team is located within the Product Team and you will report directly to the CPO, providing a high growth opportunity for you and the future Data Team
- This is an in-person position at our New York City office located in the heart of SoHo
- Ensuring Robust Database Governance and Management: Lead the creation, implementation, and maintenance of robust database governance practices to ensure data integrity, accuracy, and accessibility across the organization
- Performing Data Transformation and ETL Processes: Conduct and oversee data transformation and ETL (Extract, Transform, Load) processes to structure data for optimal use in Business Intelligence (BI) tools, ensuring data is ready for analysis and reporting
- Upholding Data Security Best Practices: Implement and maintain data security protocols and best practices to protect sensitive information and comply with relevant regulations and standards
- Managing Pipeline of Team-Wide Data Insight Inquiries: Oversee and prioritize data insight inquiries from various teams, ensuring timely and accurate delivery of insights to inform decision-making across the organization
- Overseeing and Maintaining BI Tool Dashboards: Lead the development, management, and maintenance of BI tool dashboards to provide clear and actionable insights to stakeholders
- Utilizing Python and SQL for Data Manipulation and Analysis: Employ advanced skills in Python and SQL for data manipulation, analysis, and to support various data-driven initiatives
- Creating Actionable Presentations / One-Pagers: Develop and deliver clear and concise presentations or one-pagers to effectively communicate complex data insights to key stakeholders and leadership
- Conducting Build vs. Buy Analyses: Perform thorough analyses to determine whether to build in-house solutions or purchase third-party tools for current and future data pipeline needs, ensuring alignment with business objectives and resource availability
