Who you are

  • Enrolled in the last year of a Masters degree program in a related field (Communications, Public Relations)
  • Fluent (written and spoken) in English and French with C1 level proficiency
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • Proficient in Google Suite and social media platforms
  • Capable of working independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, multitasking environment
  • Basic knowledge of the French media landscape

  • Previous internship experience in Public Relations or Communications

What the job involves

  • Airbnb is seeking a Communications Intern to join the France Communications team for a full-time, 6-month internship
  • The Communications team at Airbnb is responsible for telling our story around the world
  • Whether we are briefing press on inspiring travel trends, highlighting unique experiences led by local hosts, or explaining how travel on our platform benefits local families and communities, we are the voice of Airbnb on a broad range of topics
  • You’ll support our consumer communications manager on Press relations and influencer campaigns
  • Assist in the creation of press releases and press kits, including storytelling ideation, coordinating with agencies to format materials into press kits, drafting press releases, and developing additional supporting creative assets
  • Overview internal reporting workflows such as populating weekly reports for France & Belgium, and keeping the communication calendars up-to-date
  • Coordinate with agency partners on local communication initiatives, media plans, strategic announcements, and other media-related topics
  • Generate reports by analyzing KPIs from internal monitoring tools
  • Coordinate external communication initiatives
  • Project management planning: ability to support in creating and maintaining one-pagers, Google Slides, Excel sheets and reports to track activities for various communication initiatives
  • Manage the publishing of newsroom posts for the French communications team
  • Oversee calendar invitations and Proxyclick for the French communications team
  • Attend press conferences and various events
  • Assist in coordinating with agencies for organizing trips for influencers
  • Learning about reporting on influencers campaigns
  • As an intern, you’ll be integrated into a team where you’ll contribute to challenging projects

  • Update the weekly communications calendar and project tracking tools
  • Review internal media monitoring tools to compile reports and analyze brand and competitor social media for insights
  • Create and update project tracking tools, slide decks, documents, and compile editorial press pitches and Newsroom posts
  • Support discussions with agencies, draft releases, emails to partners, or other project-related content under senior consumer manager supervision
  • Participate in and support internal coordination meetings with other functions and departments
  • Analyze social media performance for brand and influencer partners, prepare metrics and reports, and assist in talent consultant needs, team coordination, and scheduling meetings
  • Actively participate in and contribute to the Communications and broader Airbnb community

Our take

When Airbnb was originally founded, the product helped customers book air mattresses on people's apartment floors. Since then, Airbnb has had over a billion customers hosted through its platform. With more than 4 million registered hosts worldwide, it has grown into a major player in the hospitality sector.

Airbnb has been successful in disrupting the traditional holiday lettings sector. Before it existed accommodation was limited to hotels and bed and breakfasts, but Airbnb has mainstreamed the idea of renting out spare rooms or even entire homes. It has created a new sector of hosts purchasing properties to rent out on the platform and provides a level of flexibility and a range of offerings not previously possible for travelers.

Perhaps a victim of its own success, by 2022 supply of Airbnb-listed properties began to outstrip demand in some markets, as hosts overestimated the appetite for domestic travel. However, the company is still posting strong financials and has unveiled new tools to support its hosts in a tougher rental market. With a healthy bottom line and a huge user base, Airbnb is very likely to overcome the current market turbulence and continue its growth.
