Who you are
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Business, or a related field; MBA or advanced degree preferred
- Extensive experience (5+ years) in product management, strategy, or business development, with a focus on power conversion technologies and systems
- In-depth knowledge of inverters, Power Conversion Systems (PCS), and related technologies
- Proven ability to translate market insights into actionable strategies that drive business growth
- Strong leadership and communication skills, with a track record of influencing and collaborating across organizational levels
- Experience in managing global teams and navigating complex, matrix organizational structures
- Preferred extensive experience with inverters and PCS components in the ESS and automotive industries
What the job involves
- As the Director, Technical Product Management you will be instrumental in defining and implementing the technical direction of our power conversion systems (PCS, inverters) as one of the critical components of our storage products
- This role demands a visionary leader with a profound understanding of power conversion technologies, global market dynamics, and a proven track record of managing product lines on a global scale
- Develop and execute a comprehensive technical for the Inverters and PCS critical components in alignment with overall corporate objectives
- Conduct thorough market analysis to identify growth opportunities, assess competitive landscapes, and formulate strategies for market penetration
- Create and maintain positive relationships with strategic partners and selected vendors
- Define and communicate the unique value proposition of our Inverters and PCS, ensuring clear differentiation in the market
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop compelling messaging and marketing strategies
- Stay informed about global energy market trends, emerging technologies, and regulatory developments relevant to power conversion systems
- Utilize market insights to make informed decisions and adjustments to the product strategy
- Develop and manage budgets for the Inverters and PCS product lines, with a focus on maximizing profitability and return on investment
- Implement pricing strategies that balance competitiveness with profitability goals
- Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders, including customers, industry partners, and regulatory bodies
- Collaborate with regional teams to tailor strategies based on local market conditions and regulatory requirements
- Oversee the entire product lifecycle, from concept development to end-of-life, ensuring products meet or exceed market expectations
- Collaborate with R&D and engineering teams to drive continuous product improvement and innovation
Our take
For a long time, efforts to decarbonize the global power grid have been hampered by a lack of effective large-scale battery-based energy storage. Fluence's dove-tailed approach - which pairs cutting-edge hardware with its own top-of-the-line operating system and AI - seeks to address this problem by allowing customers to deploy energy storage faster and more cost effectively.
The result of a union between independent American power producer AES and Siemens, Europe's biggest industrial manufacturer, Fluence entered the market in 2017 with a bang, and it now boasts the world's largest deployed fleet of energy storage projects. Having established its presence in battery storage, the company has increasingly been moving into digital energy asset optimisation, including of renewable energy sources.
