What the job involves

The Business Development and Partnerships team helps plan Waymo's dynamic future and drive the company's go-to-market strategy.
We work cross-functionally and leverage quantitative and qualitative analysis to build forward-looking partnerships that deliver on Waymo's strategic business objectives. As a member of this entrepreneurial and results-oriented team, you will have a significant impact on defining, developing and executing Waymo's commercial deployment
Identify and execute on opportunities to accelerate the acquisition of Waymo’s long-term charging infrastructure
Manage strategic parking partners to enable fleet expansion in new and existing markets
Implement effective partner agreements that achieve results across the Waymo partnerships ecosystem
Develop and implement an overall strategic partnerships plan to accelerate Waymo's market entry into new markets
Identify, negotiate, execute, and manage strategic partners in all markets to enable charging capacity at no existing power sites
Use existing infrastructure and maintenance partners and identify new partners to support new market entry
Collaborate with teams across time zones to define partnership strategy, build programs, create work plans, lead analysis, communicate final recommendations to move partnerships forward

Our take

Waymo is an autonomous driving technology company that began as the Google self-driving car project in 2009. After initial development, it secured permits to deploy autonomous ride-hailing services in cities including Phoenix and San Francisco, but has recently hit a major bump in the road with safety concerns that resulted in a recall of over 400 self-driving cars.

With the autonomous driving industry already besieged by setbacks and public distrust, this development does Waymo no favours. That said, as an industry leader there remains the possibility it will see out the storm, but massive attention will need to be given to rebuilding trust with consumers if this is to be the case.
