Who you are
- If you have three to eight years’ experience after your qualification; are an ambitious lawyer looking to make your first move into the battery energy storage industry and are ready to assume responsibility in a fast-paced environment you should read on

- You read legalese fluently, but you never, ever speak legalese. - You have excellent judgment, both in business and interpersonal matters, except you like lawyers. You can win the day for your client, and the other side thinks you’re awesome. People sometimes tell you “Wow, I didn’t know lawyers could be cool"

- You exude strong interpersonal skills, flexibility and a highly self-motivated work style. Working collaboratively with your peers blending into a team comes natural to you
What the job involves
- What’s the lawyer’s role in this? Our offerings are not only technically complex. They also require challenging contractual and commercial structures and bring with them multiple interfaces between technical, commercial, and legal matters – requiring significant legal talent to manage, align, and finally contract. Super-interesting and never boring!
- This role will predominantly support the UK and Ireland delivery team and other Fluence functions with the legal challenges that arise in developing, constructing, procuring and servicing BESS projects
- Your office will not be located in a legal ivory tower – you are expected to be a part of the team and add value in close interactions with your peers
- In other words, you will be a lawyer in a broad and customer, contractor and stakeholder facing role, and all of us are responsible for great customer service
- The subject matters, technical details and personalities you will be facing in your new role will be numerous and varied
- Most Fluence people wear multiple hats. On any given day you might provide overflow legal support on any topic, from construction and commercial contracting to employment law, privacy, intellectual property, real estate, or simply corporate housekeeping. Nobody at Fluence says “that’s not my job!”
- You aren’t expected to arrive at Fluence being an expert in energy storage. You’ll climb the learning curve quickly
- Our customers value us for our expertise, and this role will be on the front lines, interacting with customers frequently. Soon you’ll know more about energy storage than most other lawyers in the world

For a long time, efforts to decarbonize the global power grid have been hampered by a lack of effective large-scale battery-based energy storage. Fluence's dove-tailed approach - which pairs cutting-edge hardware with its own top-of-the-line operating system and AI - seeks to address this problem by allowing customers to deploy energy storage faster and more cost effectively.
The result of a union between independent American power producer AES and Siemens, Europe's biggest industrial manufacturer, Fluence entered the market in 2017 with a bang, and it now boasts the world's largest deployed fleet of energy storage projects. Having established its presence in battery storage, the company has increasingly been moving into digital energy asset optimisation, including of renewable energy sources.
