Who you are

8+ years of software development experience
A degree in computer science, software engineering, or a related field
An affinity for creating software that is extensible, performant, and easy to read
Strong programming skills in one or more of these languages: Ruby (Rails), GoLang, Java, Python, or NodeJS
Solid understanding of relational databases preferably Postgres or MySQL
Experience with scaling, troubleshooting, migrations and security of distributed systems
Experience with NoSQL databases, AWS, micro services, SOAExperience with CI/CD and version control (preferably Git)

What the job involves

At Motive, we’re not just looking for engineers—we’re seeking Superbuilders. You will be responsible for building products that will modernize the Compliance, Fleet, and Driver management solutions for our Enterprise customers to increase productivity, profitability and more importantly to keep the roads safe
As part of this role you will build scalable infrastructure, APIs/services and work with a team that is passionate and makes an impact on the trucking industry which is the driving force of the economy
We are looking for accomplished engineers to not just deliver products to bolster Motive’s success in providing Enterprise solutions but to go beyond it using the latest technologies
Collaborate with a cross functional team to design and document scalable solutions
Ability to write secure, maintainable code that powers the platform that connects the world’s trucks
Launch and support product facing platform features (including two of our brand new AI features)
Lead code reviews and help to guide software architecture decisions
Resource for the product team to determine technical feasibility of features

Our take

Trucking is a huge but fragmented industry that was largely ignored by Silicon Valley until companies such as Motive (formerly KeepTruckin) came along. The integrated fleet management platform acts as air traffic control for trucks, bringing drivers online and into the 21st century.

The company offers both hardware and software solutions to freight companies, allowing them to manage their fleet and keep their drivers safe. One of these solutions is an AI-powered dashcam that detects unsafe driving behavior in real time and instantly alerts the driver.

The platform, which is used by over 120,000 companies, from small businesses to Fortune 500 enterprises, received $150 million in VC in 2025, which is being used to accelerate its investment in AI and grow its enterprise capabilities.
