- Does the idea of being responsible for the teams that make up the foundation of Expel’s cloud-native platform and technologies excite you? Do you have a passion for improving internal tooling and processes that Expel’s broader Engineering teams use to ship features?
- Are you a fan of effective quality engineering and automation? Are you passionate about site reliability, performance, and security? If so, leading our Delivery Experience, Quality Engineering, Assembler, and SRE teams as our Director of Core Engineering could be for you!
- We're looking for that special someone who loves to lead and inspire engineering teams to deliver clean, secure, and sustainable solutions
- You recognize the importance of balancing efficient, cost-effective, scalable delivery with productive collaboration and experimentation. You're great at coming up with creative solutions, and even better at implementing them
- 5+ years managing and mentoring engineers of all levels; from individual contributors in site reliability engineering, quality, and software development to managers of these functions, preferably on remote/hybrid teams
- 10+ years delivering large-scale, high-performing, and secure cloud platforms
- Excellent active listening, negotiation, and conflict management skills across communication styles and levels from deeply technical through executive
- Solid understanding of data analysis and performance/operational metrics and statistics, and demonstrated experience using these skills to make decisions
- Experience contributing to roadmap/budget planning and making data-backed financial business decisions
- Solid understanding of software engineering, applications security, and quality best practices, particularly in Linux-based SaaS environments
- Technical and cost management experience working with cloud-native services in at least one of the top cloud providers in the following priority order - GCP, AWS, and Azure

- Guide managers in developing efficient and productive processes, goal setting, and metrics with individual teams
- Continuously provide coaching, feedback, and career development to engineering managers
- Maintain a rigorous SLO-driven quality and incident response program and work with feature teams and across the platform to establish benchmarks for various aspects of the product and platform, including feature, scalability, performance, reliability, and security

Expel is aiming to redefine what a security operations center and managed detection service looks like in the modern age.
