Who you are

- Expert knowledge of financial statement analysis, corporate finance concepts, and reporting techniques
- Proficiency in SQL and data modeling; Python experience is a plus
- Ability to understand complex business drivers, produce high-quality analytics, and communicate insights effectively to all levels of management
- Prior payments/fintech experience is a plus, but not required
- Advanced Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint skills
What the job involves
- Finix is looking for a dynamic and motivated Financial Data Analyst to join our team
- As a member of the Finance and Strategy Team, this role will be responsible for managing corporate budgeting and forecasting, managing financial reporting and planning, and performing in-depth analysis to support Finix’s financial decisions and strategy
- This individual will partner closely with leaders across the company and provide value by leveraging their financial expertise to inform Finix’s overall strategy
- Manage the budgeting and forecasting process by managing the company-wide financial model, tracking and recalibrating company spending, and providing reporting and ad-hoc analysis to senior leaders
- Manage the company-wide headcount plan in partnership with functional leaders, people operations, and the accounting team to manage requests and understand the impact on the company budget
- Build robust financial models to support strategic planning, facilitate decision-making, and provide recommendations and analysis to management
- Analyze internal KPIs and consolidated financials, communicate performance to key stakeholders, highlight trends and changes, and conduct deep dives when observing abnormalities
- Identify, create, and drive process improvements and scale across business stakeholders
Our take
Finix is in the very lucrative market of payments. Just as Stripe and Plaid have reached gargantuan valuations from augmenting online businesses’ ability to handle payments and taking a fee as a result, Finix is doing the same for software businesses.
Traditionally software businesses could only become a payments facilitator if they invested in a three-year in-house build by dozens of engineers, with tens of millions of dollars of technical R&D and investment. Instead, Finix takes that down to a number of months by getting developer-friendly APIs.
Now, the company is looking to compete directly with Stripe. That means becoming a payments facilitator themselves, and allowing its clients to set up payments handling through the Finix platform (and all the back office requirements and compliance certifications).
It's no easy task going up against the payments giant. However, Finix’s leadership will hope that its developer-friendly, open-infrastructure approach will see it win a fair amount of market share as it aggressively seeks growth in the coming years, aided by $208 million in funding to date.
