Martee's is part of a growing number of startups looking to overhaul the food landscape by using data science to improve the availability of great quality products. There's a significant opportunity to disrupt the traditional model, with the food-to-go industry still dominated by spreadsheets and ‘guesstimate’ work, resulting in widespread empty shelves and high levels of waste. Hundreds of millions of pounds are being pumped globally into funding solutions in the AI food forecasting space, and Martee’s closed its seed funding round in 2023.

Whilst they’ll face competition in this arena, the early-stage company has set itself apart by building its own ‘micro-store’ retail network - a continuous source of live proprietary training data. Co-founders Harry Slagel and Lucy Adams have respectively built, raised for and exited businesses in the food and technology sectors. By taking on a market ripe for disruption, Martee's has great potential to build a significant business.
