Who you are
- AI/Agentic Design Experience: Proven track record of designing AI-driven, agentic, or conversational user interfaces that deliver real user value
- Advanced Prototyping: Proficiency in prototyping non-linear, multi-modal user flows to test and validate complex AI interactions
- Human-Centered AI Principles: Strong understanding of HCAI principles, focusing on user trust, transparency, system feedback, and explainability
- High-Stakes Design: Ability to navigate and design for complex, high-stakes consumer financial products where trust is paramount
- Experience at Scale: 8+ years of product design experience with significant time dedicated to problem solving complex experiences and shipping new products
- Proactive & Adaptable: You thrive in fast-paced, evolving environments and take initiative to drive progress
- Strong Product Sense: You deeply understand user needs, business goals, and technical constraints—and can balance them effectively in your design decisions

- We are looking for an experienced Staff Product Designer to join us at a critical juncture as we evolve how our users interact with Affirm through agentic solutions
- You will lead the effort to help establish when, where and how we utilize AI to consistently help the consumer in the moment, providing them with proactive experiences
- You will partner closely with Product to define a roadmap for success
- This role focuses on building a hybrid search and discovery interface that seamlessly balances the high-intent efficiency of traditional UI with the discovery power of AI
- In addition, you will help create a unified vision on how AI can transform our consumer touchpoints
- Own and drive design AI and agentic initiatives for Affirm’s Consumer experience, delivering high-impact, customer-centric solutions that align with business objectives
- Design intuitive, conversational, and agentic patterns that feel proactive and helpful, moving beyond reactive commerce to anticipation
- Define the design language for Affirm’s future AI-driven interactions, prioritizing trust, clarity, and predictable outcomes for our users
- Collaborate cross-functionally with product, engineering, data science, marketing, and research to drive innovation and deliver seamless, intuitive experiences
- Embrace agility—iterating quickly, adapting to change, and making data-driven decisions while maintaining a strong vision for the future
- Balance near-term execution with long-term strategic thinking, ensuring scalability and coherence across the Affirm ecosystem
- Push the envelope—challenge the status quo, think outside the box, and take calculated risks to drive meaningful innovation in financial products
- Bring exceptional visual and interaction design skills to craft delightful, polished experiences that build trust and confidence
- Champion a test-and-learn mindset, leveraging experimentation, research, and analytics to continuously refine and optimize user experiences

Affirm offers point-of-sale loans to consumers, working with merchants like Shopify, KAYAK, and Walmart. Buy now, pay later transactions have grown in popularity in recent years, and this business is tapping into the market with a totally different approach to credit - by delivering the Affirm card, the first US debit card with the option to pay-over-time.
Serving over 21 million consumers and over 300,000 merchants, the company offers flexible payback options ranging from 3 to 36 months. The interest rates run between 0% and 30%, so, while they are not necessarily the cheapest option, Affirm prides itself on having no fees for late payments, no hidden charges, and total transparency about what people will pay before they take out a loan.
Affirm collects payments from the customers and pays the merchants directly, shouldering the risk itself. The company has boosted its market share, expanding its availability beyond the US to include most of Canada, and continues to launch new features and create new partnerships towards bettering its offering.
