Who you are
- Currently pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Business, Marketing, or a related field
- Strong interest in sales and a desire to develop a career in sales or business development
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
- Highly self-motivated, proactive, and results-oriented
- Ability to work independently and collaborate effectively within a team
- Right to Work in US
- Proficiency in using Microsoft Office Suite and familiarity with CRM software is a plus
- Prior experience in sales or customer service is desirable but not required
- Note: This internship is open to eligible candidates, such as students or recent graduates
What the job involves
- We are seeking a highly motivated Sales Development Intern to join our sales team
- This internship offers a unique opportunity to develop essential skills in sales, market research, and customer relationship management
- As a Sales Development Intern, you will work closely with our experienced sales professionals, aligning with leaders and field representatives playing a critical role in the business growth initiatives
- Research and identify potential clients and target markets
- Utilize various tools and platforms to generate leads and build prospect lists
- Engage with prospects through email, social media, and phone calls to introduce Couchbase's products, services and to drive event attendance
- Qualify leads by understanding their needs and aligning them with Couchbase solutions
- Foster relationships with prospects to drive interest and build a pipeline of qualified opportunities
- Document and maintain accurate records of all prospect interactions in the CRM system
- Collaborate with the sales team to develop effective strategies for lead conversion and opportunity progression
- Assist in preparing sales materials, presentations, and proposals
- Participate in sales meetings, team huddles, and training sessions to enhance sales skills and product knowledge
- Stay updated on industry trends, competitive landscape, and market developments
- Conduct market research to identify potential market segments and opportunities
- Provide insights and feedback to the sales team based on market research findings
- Gain hands-on experience in sales prospecting, and lead generation
- Work closely with experienced sales professionals and learn from their expertise

Our take
Critical functions for digital businesses such as computing and storage have become cheaper by orders of magnitude with the advent of cloud computing. However, these businesses still face the challenge of architecting their services under this paradigm. Couchbase’s NoSQL database makes taking advantage of these features possible.
The cloud vendor's major bets on Kubernetes, mobile, and of course, NoSQL have paid off. Many of the world’s largest companies have come to consider this software as mission-critical and Couchbase has benefitted from this as exemplified by its IPO in 2021.
The biggest challenge for Couchbase is that it is playing in a large but competitive market, with the likes of DataStax and the publically traded MongoDB, and all the major cloud vendors vying for similar customers in the NoSQL space. However, Couchbase continues to grow post-IPO and serves influential clients including Mariott International, Amadeus, and LinkedIn.
