Who you are

We are looking for candidates with experience in building out cloud infrastructure to help drive our foundational architecture and enable rapid development and growth
8+ years of experience developing and operating large scale cloud platforms, services and infrastructure across at least one major cloud environment (AWS or GCP)
Experience cloud architecture best practices
Experience with implementing Infrastructure as Code and GitOps solutions (Terraform, Pulumi, etc.)
Experience with at least one programming language (Go, Python etc.)
Knowledge of networking (DNS, IPv4/IPv6, etc.)
Familiarity with compliance (SOC2, etc.)
Experience using open source software components in production
Strong collaboration skills, ability to share information with internal and external engineering and product teams
Creativity and curiosity for solving complex problems, a team-oriented attitude that enables you to work well with others, and alignment with our culture

What the job involves

The Infrastructure Platform team is responsible for building out a platform for engineers to deploy and manage both infrastructure and services in cloud environments.
We take a platform-first and customer-centric approach where we focus on enabling other teams to own their services via a combination of common infrastructure, services, and self-service tooling.
Our mandate covers the spectrum from basic infrastructure on cloud accounts to more advanced service-level capabilities such as deployments and observability.
Infrastructure Platform is part of the Modular Productivity and Productionalization team which also covers the broader software development lifecycle and data platform
Architect foundational parts of our cloud infrastructure, from account structure to networking to identity and access management
Build and operate a global cloud infrastructure across multiple providers
Build and maintain a self-service automation platform for infrastructure and services, leveraging best-in-class tools to provide diverse and advanced capabilities
Collaborate with engineering teams to provide platform support and identify areas for improvement across tooling, processes, and practices
Define and promote security, reliability and resiliency practices throughout the organization

Our take

AI development is booming, but the tools behind it? Not so much. Developers are often stuck dealing with messy, disconnected systems that slow everything down and bump up costs.

To address this, Modular has developed a unified AI platform that streamlines the development process. It's AI Engine enhances the performance of models on CPUs and GPUs, supporting popular frameworks like TensorFlow and PyTorch. And on top of that, it's built Mojo, a programming language that's as easy as Python but much faster (35,000 times faster).

In 2023, the company raised an impressive $100M to power its mission. It's been using this funding to grow its team, support more hardware, and push Mojo even further. With the hopes of making AI development faster, smoother, and a whole lot more fun for everyone.
