Role
Who you are
- 8+ years of progressive experience, including 4+ years covering sales. Foundational experience in investment banking, private equity, or management consulting preferred. Experience with consumption-based business models is a meaningful plus
- Proven track record of driving measurable business outcomes through financial analysis and strategic insight, not just reporting
- Demonstrated success driving sales strategy, planning, and performance management
- You've built something with AI- a model, a workflow, an automated analysis. You're eager to do more of it. You see AI as a core part of how great finance teams will operate, not a novelty
- Expert-level modeling ability, translating complex business drivers into clear frameworks
- Strong executive presence. You communicate with clarity and conviction at all levels
- Experience with Salesforce, BI tools (ie. Omni), SQL
- You identify problems before they're handed to you, and you thrive when the answer isn't obvious
- An A-player mindset with a strong bias for action: you raise the bar, move with urgency, stay resilient through ambiguity, and take ownership to deliver meaningful outcomes
What the job involves
- The Financial Planning & Strategy (FP&S) team at Checkr sits at the intersection of finance, strategy, and execution. We don't just report on the business, we shape it. We drive strategic decision-making through deep cross-functional partnerships, financial and strategic analyses, and domain expertise. We proactively identify opportunities to fuel growth toward Checkr’s goals and deliver the highest impact outcomes
- We are looking for a Senior Manager, Strategic Finance- Go-to-Market to be the lead finance partner for our Enterprise and Mid-Market businesses across Sales, Account Mgmt, and Customer Success. You'll sit at the center of how we scale two distinct, high-performing sales motions, translating business performance into clear financial insights and driving the decisions that drive top-line growth. This role is highly visible, with regular collaboration with our executive team and the opportunity to shape strategy to increase market share
- Ownership & Business Partnership: Serve as the lead strategic finance partner to executives across our GTM teams. Build trusted relationships that make you a go-to thought partner on the decisions that matter most
- Build the next-generation StratFin team: Develop AI-powered workflows, automated analyses, and intelligence systems that redefine what a strategic finance team can do
- Strategy: Assess current and future strategic priorities. Quantitatively validate and advocate for the highest-ROI initiatives across the GTM organization
- Insights: Proactively deliver data-driven recommendations that inform go-to-market tactics, product experiments, and cross-functional roadmaps. Build frameworks for evaluating sales efficiency and productivity. Partner with Data Analytics to develop predictive and automated reporting
- Strategic Planning: Own a significant portion of our long-range and annual planning processes, including the strategic plan that positions GTM to hit our growth goals
- Team: Develop and grow a high-performing analyst
Our take
Checkr addresses the unpleasant and time consuming process of background checks so that companies using on-demand employees can make safer, more informed hiring decisions in less time. Background checks are a critical part of the hiring process, and CEO Daniel Yannisse noticed that they were painfully slow, resulting in loss of work for candidates and productivity downturns for employers.
Before Checkr entered the market in 2014 with its innovative AI technology and a solid $50m in venture capital funding, companies were waiting upwards of two weeks for their checks. Checkr substantially reduces this time frame and has grown to receive a $5 billion valuation.
Checkr has accelerated growth by making several highly advantageous acquisitions of competitor companies, GoodHire and Inflection. As the world of work embraces diversity and inclusion, the company announced an end-to-end service for candidates wishing to expunge their criminal records, furthering the company’s ‘fair chance’ mission and clearing 1000s of candidates for free since 2021. New products launched at the end of 2023 include Checkr Pay (providing access to payment right after a shift) and Checkr Onboard (unified onboarding processes), exemplifying how Checkr is keeping pace with a rapidly changing, flexible, and mobile-first workforce.
