Who you are
- You’ll be passionate about working in the database space, with a proven track record of maintaining and enhancing database reliability using current methodologies and technologies
- Be able to operate autonomously, effectively prioritize tasks, make independent decisions, and seek guidance when necessary
- Demonstrate a solid grasp of relational database principles, with a focus on Oracle, and a strong proficiency in SQL, preferably PL-SQL
- Be able to analyze technical requirements to contribute to the development of database automation projects
- Be able to provide efficient and effective support by resolving support tickets and addressing technical queries from across the organisation
- Consider peripheral aspects like monitoring, alerting, and documentation in solution delivery
- Have familiarity with various operating systems (preferably Linux) and cloud platforms (preferably Oracle Cloud Infrastructure)
- A willingness to learn object-oriented programming and scripting languages like Bash and Python
- Be able to think analytically to identity root causes effectively and go beyond treating symptoms
What the job involves
- We are looking for a Database Administrator to focus on our Wellness Solutions (Timely and SalonBiz)
- As a Database Administrator, you’re part of a team with responsibility for our databases and data storage infrastructure that our Wellness Solutions (Timely and SalonBiz) applications, users, and staff rely on
- As a SaaS company, there is an onus on us to provide both customer and business stakeholders with solid, real time insights, as well as a 24/7 stable data platform to operate from
- You are key to this - ready to provide innovative, scalable and secure solutions to fulfil database and operational needs, thereby supporting our customers’ needs
- Carry out database related project work (e.g. writing migration scripts, procs, DDL and managing OCI database servers etc)
- Monitor, document & test backup & recovery plans for the database platforms
- Provide technical support for customer issues raised from the customer support, customer success or development team
- Capacity planning and supporting performance tuning of the database platforms
- Run ad-hoc data extracts/queries for the wider business when necessary
- Work with the data team and product teams to constantly improve data operational engineering activities
- Maintain awareness of trends and emerging technologies in relevant fields and propose to Wellness Solutions when fit
