Who you are

- B.S. in Computer Science or related field or equivalent experience
- Knowledge and production experience of Java (Spring Framework), Python, Go and React
- 1+ Years of experience working in software engineering roles
- Solid foundation in basic computer science fundamentals and programming skills
- Knowledge of professional software engineering practices & best practices for the full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, documentation, and operations
- Experience with containers (e.g. Docker, Kubernetes) and cloud environments like Amazon’s AWS
- Excellent communication skills, and the ability to work effectively with others in a team environment

- The Analytics Engineering team is responsible for all things data at Zynga
- We are building an end-to-end Analytics Platform
- As a Software Engineer, you will be responsible for the software design and development of high-quality services and products to support the Analytics needs of Zynga’s games
- In this role, you will be focusing on advanced technology developments for building scalable end-to-end applications and services for our business intelligence platform, which can be leveraged by our various games and data scientists/analysts
- Design, implement, and maintain our full-stack software applications and features
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define, design, and ship new features
- Write clean and efficient code following best practices
- Conduct code reviews and provide constructive feedback to team members
- Troubleshoot and debug applications to resolve issues
- Participate in the full software development lifecycle, including requirements gathering, design, coding, testing, and deployment
- Provide production and integration support for products running in Zynga
Our take
Zynga is a games developer that rode Facebook's platform to success back in the late noughties and early 2010's. It is now one of the biggest casual game producers globally, with a presence across 175 countries and regions and over 80 million monthly active users.
Though the company hit a number of roadblocks after its initial success - such as falling stock prices, and numerous calls it was copying other games - its subsequent resurgence is proof of its staying power. It continues to use social media as a distribution channel, and boasts titles such as FarmVille, Merge Dragons! and Words With Friends.
Future success will lie in the company's continued investment in building viral games that people love. It will also need to attune to the social media waves and keep track of where users can be found, as the landscape has become more mobile. Notable recent activity includes a collaboration with BBC Earth ahead of 2024's Earth day, and grant to develop actionable push notifications that enable gameplay without entering the application.
