Who you are
- Proven ability to translate big, ambiguous problems with multiple stakeholders into clear plans
- You connect features directly to desired outcomes & key results to ensure we build the highest impact features that ladder up to our company-wide goals
- You prioritize ruthlessly and know how to make tradeoffs between speed, scale, and cost
- You break down bigger problems and features into smaller iterative milestones with clear success criteria that gates future phases of work, and ensures we don’t make over-sized investments relative to the value and impact that they deliver to our customers
- Expertise in translating customer and stakeholder needs into clear & concise product requirements, and managing workflow (ideally using JIRA/Confluence)
- 5+ years experience in product management, launching high-impact features from start to finish
- At least 2 years specifically working in a top-tier product team, ideally with a user base of independent creators or small business owners
- Customer obsession with a strong bias for action
- Use quantitative and qualitative data to derive actionable insights
Desirable
- Confident using workflow management tools, experience with JIRA/Confluence preferred
- Comfortable digging into data, hands-on experience with tools like Amplitude, Sigma, Mode, Tableau, etc
- You are a killer team player who loves music and tech
- You are results oriented, yet possess deep appreciation and sensitivity towards people, culture, and values
- You are “thick-skinned” and persistent, but at the same time diplomatic and politically aware

What the job involves
- UnitedMasters is looking for a Sr Product Manager with strong experience driving business results by obsessing over the functional and emotional needs of creators and small business owners (think: indie record label owners) at every stage of their growth
- In this role you will start by working closely with our engineering, design, sales and operations teams to ensure we scale and retain both our independent artists and record label (small business owner) customers
- Build and champion a roadmap of great products for our customers, including early stage artists, emerging artists gaining traction, and indie label owners across our B2C artist subscription business, our B2B indie label business and our internal PARTNER artist roster
- Internalize the needs of our customers through research and partner closely with our Artist & Label Relations teams to ensure we deeply understand our customers’ needs, and then meet those within our products, so we can supercharge growth for our customers and for UnitedMasters
- Have your finger on the pulse of the competitive landscape and deeply understand not just how our competitors market themselves, but our competitors’ platforms and features at a granular level to inform our roadmap and opportunities to differentiate
- Live and breathe every inch of our product, from the moment a label is onboarded to UnitedMasters, through migration of their previously distributed catalog, to their first release submission and deriving daily insights from their in-app analytics
- Partner closely with our internal teams (Sales, Relations & Operations, Commerce/Playlisting, etc.) that work with our labels daily and provide best-in-class service, to ensure our product and team is delivering maximum value to our label customers
- Be a constant steward for the high bar of quality and delight we insist on to attract and retain independent creators and labels

Music distribution services provide ways for musical artists to release their music in both digital and physical formats. However, musicians usually don't retain the often lucrative rights to audio masters and audience insights, and merchandising and concert tickets must be organised elsewhere.
UnitedMasters is a music distribution service that acts as a direct pipeline for musicians and their commercial efforts. The service allows users to retain the rights to audio masters and audience data, in addition to providing a platform for the sale of merchandise and concert tickets. The startup’s aim is to give artists full control over the monetisation of their music based on a regular subscription cost.
UnitedMasters has raised a large amount of funding from investors such as Apple, a16z and Alphabet, and has partnered with companies such as Bose, TikTok, and Twitch. These partnerships along with continued innovation make it possible for artists to access large record deals through their music, a feature not offered by many other music distribution services.
