Senior Data Governance Manager, BBC

• 5+ years of experience in a data governance or metadata management role
• Technically competent individual with ability to translate business requirements into technical terms
• Proven experience implementing metadata management and data governance tools such as Collibra, DataHub or other similar tools- including as a product owner of these tools
• Experience in Data Governance of a wide variety of data types (structured, semi-structured and unstructured data) and a wide variety of data sources
• Understanding of various data domains, including data discovery, governance, master data management, metadata management, data quality, and data lineage
• Familiarity with data modeling, database design, ETL, and data flow
• Excellent influencing skills and ability to build effective relationships across business, technical, and governance functions

• As a Data Governance Manager, you will play a crucial role in structuring and governing our data to drive meaningful actions and insights. By establishing a robust data governance framework, you will empower teams to maximise the value derived from our data
• Leading on the metadata documentation and management (e.g. data dictionaries, data traceability/lineage, data sharing agreements)
• Responsible for data definitions and lineage; leading on those core activities and setting in motion a place to start delivering data lineage across the company, meeting with stakeholders, working on the data glossary & enabling the business to take ownership of the data
• Establishing metrics to monitor data governance adoption and adherence to data governance policies and procedures within each domain, track key performance indicators, and identify areas for improvement
• Work in a cross functional structure with key stakeholders such as Data Product teams, Engineering and data platforms to ensure data governance principles are integrated into data systems, applications, and infrastructure
• Support the expansion of data tools, reporting, and knowledge sharing to democratise data across the company
• Leading on education efforts to ensure Metadata management is adopted and used across the organisation
