What the job involves
- As a PR & Communications Intern, you will report to the Communications Lead and play an integral role in supporting Relay’s editorial, customer storytelling and thought leadership content
- You’ll be a part of Relay’s in-house PR and Communications function, and will support projects including PR surveys, customer interviews and other external announcements that help small business owners better understand their money—and understand Relay
- Help manage Relay’s PR and customer surveys to gather rich data that will support our external thought leadership and media storytelling
- Maintain an always-on internal customer research engine to uncover compelling and unique stories among the small businesses who use Relay to manage their cash flow
- Conduct regular, remote 1:1 customer interviews to meet the real people behind the businesses, capture their stories and distill them into exciting PR case studies
- Support the planning, drafting, editing of key announcements and news moments at Relay
- Help compile the key pieces of a compelling PR pitch, including photography/creative, new data/statistics, customer bios, written quotes, contact information and UTM links
- Assist with content QA, and fact-checking
- Help maintain PR calendars, documentation, and workflows to keep projects organized and moving forward
- Contribute to PR performance tracking by helping to maintain performance metrics measuring the impact of news coverage, and PR events and activities
- Collaborate with cross-functional partners (Data, Lifecycle Marketing, Product Marketing, Design) to share insights, align on messaging and oversee multi-step projects
- Pitch ideas for new stories, formats, or improvements based on what’s trending
