- You have +2 years of relevant experience in web application development with a focus on AI-based forecasting, Machine Learning and/or time series data processing
- You are knowledgeable in different technologies and methodologies regarding time series forecasts or graph machine learning
- You are familiar with significant parts of our tech stack (especially Python), with current software design principles and are looking forward to keeping up with current industry best practices

- You are business-fluent in English (Level C1)

What the job involves
- As (Senior) Data Scientist / AI/ ML Engineer - Energy Grid Forecast (all genders) you will be part of a cross functional engineering squad with strong knowledge in energy grid calculations, time series data processing and AI-based forecasting
- Your and your squads mission is to develop time series forecasts for grid congestions in low voltage grids
- Based on weather forecasts, historical data, external sensor data and a digital twin model of the electricity grid, your team will prepare a prognosis of expected grid utilizations, provide them to external stakeholders via APIs and develop an user interface to visualize these results within our software product
- Within your role, you will drive the energy transition in an innovative project and directly influence the experience of our users, our organization, and our engineering practices
- You are part of a cross-functional team (backend, frontend, data, ML, Product) and develop an innovative product which actively drives the energy transition
- You design, refine, and implement AI/ML models to produce time series forecasts based on various input data such as weather forecasts, historical power data or external sensor data in accordance with the current state of technology and best practices
- You develop strategic pathways for evolving the product's tech stack to state of the art solutions, especially in the area of AI/ML technologies and workflows
- You are part of the conceptualizing and developing of professional software solutions to continuously evolve our product in an agile working environment together with the other cross-functional squads in the engineering department
- You have ambitious quality objectives and accompany the entire development process, from concept over implementation through testing to go-live

Our take
As the world transitions to sustainable energy, millions of new wind energy systems are being integrated into power grids. As well as the number of new consumer solutions, such as electric charging stations is also rapidly increasing, and the integration of these new systems is putting a strain on distribution grids.
Envelio is a cloud-based smart grid platform providing a solution to this challenge. The Cologne-based company has developed the Intelligent Grid Platform (IGP), a software assistance system that transforms power grids into digital, flexible interactive smart grids. Through IGP grid operation management can be carried out digitally at a quicker, more cost-effective pace.
Born out of the Institute of High Voltage Technology at the RWTH Aachen, Envelio has since grown a steady customer base for itself and expanded on an international scale. Recognised as a clean-tech software company, Envelio is driving the change to sustainable energy.
