Role
Who you are
- A proven foundation in software programming, with strong proficiencies in data structures and algorithms is required
- Experience programming RESTful services using Java, Golang, Python, and Spring
- Experience programming with web development using ReactJS and React-based frameworks
- Experience in HTML, CSS, and frameworks such as Tailwind CSS
- Experience in object-oriented design of applications/systems
- Good understanding of algorithms, design patterns, debugging and performance optimization
- Familiarity with agile development methodologies and tools
- Excellent ability to work efficiently with teammates and independently
- Excellent interpersonal skills - particularly the ability to discuss timelines, design concerns, work with distributed teams, and provide effective feedback to team members
- Bachelor or equivalent degree in Computer Science
- 4+ years of hands-on software development experience
Desirable
- Experience with DevOps, cloud infrastructure and Kubernetes in AWS is a plus
- Experience with database systems (SQL, NoSQL) is a plus
What the job involves
- Join our team at Zynga as a Senior Software Engineer (SSE) in the Mobile Game Tech organization
- We are in search of an outstanding individual to join the Customer Hub team of software engineers
- Together, you will design and develop a customer-facing portal that offers a smooth experience
- This portal will highlight various MGT products such as Payments, Identities, Directory, Forge, and Analytics
- As an SSE, you will play a key role as part of the Mobile Game Tech organization, focusing on sophisticated technology developments to build, improve and maintain next-gen tech solutions for our games
- Design, build, and maintain new and existing features and improvements to web and backend services used by mobile and web clients
- Collaborate with UX/UI designers to build a streamlined customer experience
- Take a hands-on approach in architecting, writing, and reviewing code
- Proactively identify & recommend improvements to address systemic problems and tech debt
- Follow engineering standard methodologies to ensure code quality, performance, scalability, and reliability
- Collaborate effectively with teammates, contributing to an innovative environment of technical excellence
- Review detailed tech plans from others, aligning with the team, and Zynga-wide technical vision
- Provide production & integration support for shared technology across Zynga games
Our take
Zynga is a games developer that rode Facebook's platform to success back in the late noughties and early 2010's. It is now one of the biggest casual game producers globally, with a presence across 175 countries and regions and over 80 million monthly active users.
Though the company hit a number of roadblocks after its initial success - such as falling stock prices, and numerous calls it was copying other games - its subsequent resurgence is proof of its staying power. It continues to use social media as a distribution channel, and boasts titles such as FarmVille, Merge Dragons! and Words With Friends.
Future success will lie in the company's continued investment in building viral games that people love. It will also need to attune to the social media waves and keep track of where users can be found, as the landscape has become more mobile. Notable recent activity includes a collaboration with BBC Earth ahead of 2024's Earth day, and grant to develop actionable push notifications that enable gameplay without entering the application.
