Role
Who you are
- You are a highly skilled Senior Full Stack Engineer with extensive experience building APIs and integrations that can handle large volumes of data
- You are a champion of architectural design and decision-making and can lead your peers to execute on the product and engineering vision
- You know how to work cross functionally to meet the needs of multiple stakeholders, you have a track record of success, and you’d like to join other top engineers on the Spot AI team from schools like Stanford and companies like Microsoft, Meta, Samsara, HP and more
- At least 6 years of shipping complex, production quality code
- Significant experience defining and implementing GraphQL server APIs and RESTful APIs for public consumption
- Serious interest in transitioning into engineering management
- Modern frontend framework engineering experience
- Ability to write well designed, tested, and maintainable code
- Curiosity and willingness to jump into unfamiliar codebases
- Strong sense of UX design
- Strong communication and collaboration skills
- Experience using Git, Jira, and Linux
- Strong customer-first mindset
What the job involves
- You take a customer backwards approach to your work and care deeply about user experience
- You act as a mentor to others on your team to help them deliver their highest quality work while staying up-to-date with new trends and technologies in software development
- Own end-to-end feature development across our React dashboard and Node.js/GraphQL backend, shipping customer-facing products that support 1,000+ enterprise customers
- Architect and evolve APIs that handle millions of daily requests at scale, optimizing for performance, reliability, and developer experience
- Integrate AI/ML capabilities (OpenAI, Claude, Vertex AI) into the platform, building RAG pipelines, semantic search, and intelligent automation features
- Lead architectural decisions for platform expansion, defining patterns that enable customers and partners to build on Spot AI
- Collaborate with Product and UX to identify customer problems and ship solutions that directly impact retention and expansion
- Build and optimize multi-tenant infrastructure (PostgreSQL, ClickHouse, Redis, Kubernetes) to support video processing at massive scale
- Drive technical excellence through code reviews, architecture discussions, and establishing patterns that help the team ship faster
- Pioneer AI-augmented development practices, using coding agents not as crutches but as leverage to tackle more ambitious technical problems
- When coding for the backend of the software stack you enjoy working with technologies and languages like Typescript, Node.js, Postgres, BigQuery, BigTable, Apollo GraphQL, Docker, and Kubernetes
- When coding for the frontend of the software stack you enjoy working with languages and libraries such as Typescript, React, TailwindCSS, Node.js, and GraphQL
- Writing thoughtful and scalable API logic and endpoints and building
- Creating high quality UIs that enhance the customer experience
- Owning and executing on large-scale architectural designs that support our open platform initiative
- Providing guidance and mentorship to engineers on your team
- Working closely with Product Managers and UX Designers to drive the design and implementation of key features
- Learning about customer problems and directly solving them with your work
- Working at a rapidly growing early stage startup with significant impact on the company’s processes, culture, and product
- Collaborating with a globally distributed team to deliver a best-in-class frontend and backend experience

Video intelligence is the process of analyzing real-time video footage with AI-driven computer vision to diagnose and solve problems. Whilst most businesses could benefit from such technology, it usually requires the expensive and disruptive installation of specialized camera equipment, and when combined with its complexity of use, this deters many potential users.
Spot AI develops an AI-driven video intelligence platform for businesses, offering software integrations for existing cameras and free-to-use high-resolution cameras. The platform allows all relevant parties to access videos securely and investigate them through AI-driven computer vision, preventing the need for time-consuming manual investigations and back-and-forth access dilemmas.
The largest challenge the company faces is the expensive nature of video intelligence, but Spot AI provides its technology either through integration with existing cameras or by providing its high-definition cameras for free. 2025 saw it release a breakthrough for the industry - the first remote video AI agents for physical security.
