Who you are
- Degree in Business Administration or Human Resources (MHR, MILR, MBA) accredited university or college preferred
- Minimum of 5+ years of progressive experience in a variety of People and/or Human Resources positions
- Minimum of 4+ years of experience in: a) a People and Human Resource leadership role, b) experience leading and implementing employee development programs and initiatives, and c) experience partnering with leaders, coaching in growth environments with elevated workforce performance strategies
What the job involves
- In your role as the Director of People & Culture, you are a key member, and trusted advisor, on the Dusty Robotics leadership team
- Your mission is to drive a consistent People & Culture strategy, develop and maintain a solid operational support framework, and promote our culture through our core values and our commitment to diversity across the company
- You will partner with leadership to align our people strategy to driving business results as we scale
- Reporting to the CEO, you are a champion for Dusty’s mission, providing expertise and guidance in total rewards, change management, coaching/mentoring, talent development, succession planning, strategic workforce planning, performance management and organizational design as we prepare to scale
- As the point of contact for employee relations you are the shepherd for Dusty’s culture and have passion for our mission and for the people that are helping to build, develop and expand that mission
- Partner with leadership to execute and drive employee empowerment and engagement initiatives that align to our values, vision, and mission
- Develop meaningful compensation & benefits strategies that align to our core values and long-term success
- Champion building organizational capabilities initiatives that strengthen and reinforce Dusty’s values and maximize team capabilities in our high-performance culture
- Provide timely, effective, and direct coaching to client group managers, assisting in the development of strong, contemporary leadership skills
- Act as an impartial advocate to ensure that all individuals receive fair and equitable treatment
- Champion Dusty Robotics culture, creating and fostering an incredible employee experience and helping people do their best work
- Provide leadership and expertise in building on our commitment to culture, inclusion, and diversity
- Own culture status metrics, insights, and communications throughout the organization; work with operating leaders to ensure successful implementation of growth and change efforts
- Build and lead the people operations function to ensure simplicity and exceptional employee experiences
- Define processes for onboarding, new hire assimilation, offboarding, internal mobility, performance management, retention, compliance, employee relations, engagement, and diversity/equity/inclusion
- Oversee relationship with IT contractor in creation of accounts and resolve technical issues with applications including Google Workspace, HubSpot, Okta and all other business applications used throughout the organization
Our take
The US construction sector is at a crisis point. Costs are rising, as is demand for buildings, this is combined with major sector short staffing, and the persistent issues of budget bloat and delayed completion dates that plague the majority of projects.
Dusty has designed a hyper-specific, high-demand robot for the construction industry. It’s an automated printing machine that lays down full-scale floor markings for construction projects, with 1mm accuracy and rich floor lines and labelling capabilities (now including QR codes). This is a task normally carried out manually, with chalk, so Dusty’s solution offers substantial benefits in terms of accuracy, saved time, and ultimately saved costs.
Because the construction sector has resisted automation for so long, Dusty is an early entrant to a pretty uncluttered market. Firstly, it’s meant the company has been able to rapidly whip up lucrative contracts with dozens of national construction companies like DPR and Swinerton. Secondly, it means the highly pedigreed development team has a comfortable scope to bring new robots to what’s expected to be an especially cash-flush, international market over the years to come.
