What the job involves
- We are looking for an excellent software engineer to join the merchant decisioning team and build a scalable platform/infrastructure that is critical for underwriting and decisioning hundreds of thousands of businesses on a daily basis
- As part of the team, you will be working closely with Data Science, Growth and Risk stakeholders to efficiently serve the product initiatives that serve Parafin’s portfolio and empower stakeholders with controls to determine Parafin’s growth and bottom line
- You will work with our Python-based underwriting and application decisioning product and drive its development
- You will closely define the architecture and underlying infrastructure all the way from the technologies we use to design principles that we apply
- You will work closely with our data scientists to build a platform that is reliable, scalable and easily iterable
- You will be integrating ML Infrastructure to the platform to make DS-driven decisioning more powerful and intelligent
Our take
Parafin is a fintech platform helping SMBs access growth capital. It targets platforms where SMBs sell and transact and offers an embedded finance solution with which these platforms can offer loans ranging from $500 to $10M. Parafin provides the capital for these loans and assumes the risk, allowing platforms to offer competitively attractive incentives to help them draw in a larger proportion of the growing SMB market.
Parafin’s focus on SMB growth funding is canny. Most worldwide businesses fall into the SMB category, but funding access for these businesses shrunk dramatically post-pandemic when traditional banks became more conservative with their loan approvals. This exacerbates SMB cash-flow issues, which reportedly already account for more than four in five SMB failures.
This means Parafin is helping platforms fill a growing and crucial market niche. With leadership from former Robinhood employees, confident funding from major players including the founders of Robinhood, DoorDash, and Plaid, and partnerships with Amazon, Parafin looks poised to net a substantial and lucrative market.
