Role
Who you are
- Languages: English (required), German (a plus)
- 3 – 5 years experience building web/mobile applications in a fast-paced or startup setting
- Strong full stack skills – modern frontend, backend, APIs, and databases
- Hands-on, product-minded engineer with a “build, test, learn” mindset
- Open towards no-code/low-code tools and excited by AI-native workflows
- Tech-savvy, curious, and thoughtful in choosing the right tool for the job
- A strong communicator who thrives in cross-functional teams

- As our first engineer, you’ll be shaping the digital backbone of a company aiming to become Europe’s insulation champion
- This isn’t just another full stack role. It’s a chance to co-create the systems that power every part of our business
- Build what matters - Work with our business automation team, who rapidly prototype using no-code/low-code tools. You’ll take the validated ideas and translate them into clean, maintainable code that scales
- Shape the customer experience across the insulation journey – From first website visit to project handoff, your work powers our digital funnel and turns the website into a true growth engine
- Develop tools that get used daily - Whether it’s a field technician logging insulation data offline or an ops manager overseeing dozens of projects, you’ll create tools that directly support their work
- Code smarter with AI - Use environments like Cursor, Lovable, and other AI-assisted tools to accelerate development and build intelligent agents that reduce manual effort
- Collaborate across the entire business – Partner with Product, Marketing, Sales, Partnerships, Ops, and Finance to turn ideas into features—with real impact and immediate feedback
- Help choose our tech stack – Almost no legacy systems to untangle. You’ll help define how we build from day one
- Work transparently – We share performance and business KPIs openly. You’ll always understand the why behind every feature you build
- The three biggest challenges in the first year:
- Build Our Core Platform
- Lay the foundation for a robust, scalable web platform by integrating no-code/low-code tools where they make sense, and custom code where they don’t
- Create an Offline-First App:
- Collaborate with Product and our founders to deliver a mobile-first experience that’s fast, intuitive, and functional in rural, low-connectivity areas
- Optimize Processes with AI Agents:
- Use generative AI to streamline unpredictable workflows—for instance handling emergencies or qualifying buildings based on construction plans

Our take
VARM specializes in improving home insulation through advanced air-gap technology. By making air-gap insulation more effective, VARM aims to provide a better solution for both homeowners and businesses looking to improve energy efficiency.
VARM also addresses a significant challenge in the industry - the shortage of skilled insulation installers. It connects local independent workers with its insulation technologies, helping to scale up insulation efforts. This approach not only improves the accessibility to high-quality insulation but also creates opportunities for skilled workers in the field.
A recent addition of funding positions the company well to expand its "Cloud Installers" initiative, a program designed to train and empower new installers. With this financial boost, VARM plans to advance its mission of making insulation more accessible and affordable, ultimately aiming to reduce energy consumption and emissions across Europe.
