Who you are

We are looking for innovative, curious, and collaborative engineers who are passionate about building and maintaining customer-facing applications and solving complex problems

BS/BA or greater in Computer Science or a related field
5+ years of software engineering experience
Strong programming skills in Kotlin, Java, or similar object oriented programming languages
Experience with cloud-based data platforms (e.g., GCP, AWS)
Familiarity with backend databases, primarily PostgreSQL
Familiarity with event driven systems (specifically Apache Kafka)
Ability to work independently and execute projects with minimal supervision
Strong problem-solving skills and a track record of delivering end-to-end solutions to support customer-facing applications
Excellent communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders

What the job involves

As part of the Loan Originations Engineering team, you will play a critical role in designing, building, and maintaining our lending technology
Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including other Engineering teams, Data Engineering, Product, Business, and Leadership, to develop and maintain our loan origination systems
Integrate with third parties to further Figure’s capabilities to underwrite loans
Analyze and optimize loan origination technology, from backend performance to FE user experience and everything in between
Participate in code reviews, contribute to best practices, and help mentor junior engineers on the team
Stay current with industry trends and emerging technologies, and advocate for their adoption when they align with our strategic goals
While proficiency in our tech stack is a plus, those comfortable with similar stacks are encouraged to apply
Familiarity with backend technologies, including Kotlin, SpringBoot, PostgreSQL, Kafka, Google Cloud Platform, and Kubernetes, are desirable
Frontend proficiencies in React, React Query, Typescript or JavaScript, Tailwind, and Vite are a plus

Our take

Figure is the largest non-bank provider of home equity lines of credit, disrupting the lending industry with its blockchain platform, Provenance. The platform works as a registry, ledger, and exchange; handling loans, mortgaging, private credit and private investment.

The company is one of few that offers users the option to leverage their cryptocurrency assets to get loans or mortgages. Betting heavily on the cryptocurrency market has presented both its ups and downs for Figure, but a successful IPO in 2025 suggests its position nowadays is steady.

As digital assets continue to gain mainstream acceptance, there should be ample opportunity for Figure to expand its reach in the future. The company's IPO was supported by Goldman Sachs, Jefferies and BofA Securities, and raised an impressive $787.5 million.
