A/B testing - where teams compare different versions of an app or feature to see what performs best - has become essential for improving digital products, but the infrastructure behind it is often messy and expensive to build. So Eppo simplifies this process by giving companies a platform to run experiments, analyse results and investigate performance without building everything from scratch themselves.
The company was founded by Chetan Sharma, a former data scientist who saw first-hand how much time companies wasted rebuilding experimentation systems internally. That experienced shaped Eppo's approach, combining advanced analytics with tools that are easier for product and data teams to actually use. The platform has also leaned into AI-driven experimentation, helping businesses compare machine learning models and better understand how different product decisions affect users.
Launched in 2022 with backing from Menlo Ventures, Eppo quickly established itself in a crowded market. Its progress recently culminated in an acquisition by Datadog, where it will continue operating as "Eppo by Datadog". The deal shows just how important experimentation and product analytics are becoming in the AI era, as companies race to build smarter software while reducing risk and improving performance.
