Role
Who you are
- Several years of solutions engineering experience in a similar role in SaaS; bonus points if you’ve been an early hire and even better if it’s in the commerce SaaS or iPaaS
- You should have a baseline understanding of computer science principles and be able to build logical workflows, and work through requests related to third party APIs, technical edge case and error handling, etc
- Technical background & ability to understand nuances of webhooks, APIs, and other logical programming concepts is a must
- Basic experience with frontend JavaScript and backend Node. Familiarity with how to implement and debug SDKs and experience using automation tools
- You don’t shy away from detective work and problem solving (even when the answer isn’t obvious); finding solutions to problems excites you and you’re comfortable with the unknown and ambiguous
- You’re naturally curious and confident, love to ask questions, think on your feet, and bring a solutions-oriented approach
- You’re a maestro when it comes to customer and project management – super-organized and time-management is second nature to you. This is important as you’ll need to context-shift and pivot when working on several projects and priorities at the same time
What the job involves
- As one of our Solutions Engineers, you'll have the opportunity to work directly with our top (and future) customers, providing support for the technical elements of the sales cycle, being the go-to resource for the sales team, and do critical work that will impact thousands of end customers affected by our embedded iPaaS product
- You’ll help to enable, support and educate B2B SaaS prospects on their technical set up and use of our products and help us scale, rolling up your sleeves with video calls and recordings, technical documentation, and other collateral you produce to drive deals forward
- Deliver advanced product demos and highlight the massive potential that companies can unlock with Alloy Embedded
- Collect requirements for proof of concept, and collaborate with other teams internally to deliver the project and assist sales with closing the deal
- Provide technical and engineering support, troubleshooting guidance, and help customers understand how best to utilize all of Alloy’s features
- Dive into the API docs of 3rd party apps in order to diagnose issues, scope out workflows, create tickets and help develop solutions or work with the engineering team
- Act as a liaison between the customer, Product, Sales, Customer Success, Solutions and our Engineering teams to help conceive and build new product ideas and help with feature development
- Knowledge sharing across the team to create a deep feedback loop, helping us refine and improve features
Our take
Automation is great at two things in particular: eliminating repetitive drudge work, and ensuring nothing is missed. Both cover a lot of ground in the field of eCommerce, where monitoring and responding to customer behaviour is the name of the game. Alloy Automation is a platform helping automate precisely this.
The Alloy platform allows companies to link together apps to create automated workflows. A Shopify payment, for example, could trigger the sending of a customer text message, a discount code, and a team slack notification. These templates can be custom-built, or selected from a marketplace of prefabricated ones.
The automation and eCommerce marketplaces are both hotly competitive and cluttered, which means Alloy’s model is a smart one. It doesn’t need to beat the field; it just needs to integrate with the rapidly growing number of SaaS platforms and tools eCommerce companies are leaning on. Alloy has been rewarded with strong funding to rapidly upscale this concept - and there’s a lot of market demand to grow into.
