Who you are
- 5+ years in cybersecurity, with 3+ years focused on cloud security architecture/engineering, specifically with Google Cloud Platform (GCP)
- Proven expertise in designing secure cloud solutions, IaC, and integrating security into CI/CD pipelines
- Solid understanding of cloud security best practices, compliance frameworks, and native GCP security services
- Familiarity with vulnerability analysis, threat modeling, and incident response in a cloud context
- Excellent communication skills, able to convey complex technical concepts to diverse audiences
- Passionate about mentoring, advocating for best practices, and driving continuous improvement
What the job involves
- Our cybersecurity team is evolving, expanding into security architecture and review, and transitioning to a hybrid cloud environment with a strong focus on Google Cloud Platform (GCP)
- We're seeking a Senior Cloud Security Engineer (12 month contract) to be a key player in this transformation
- You will design and implement robust security solutions, influence our hybrid cloud security posture, and help elevate our team's cloud security expertise
- Lead GCP & Hybrid Cloud Security Architecture: Design and implement secure architectures for cloud-native applications, IaC, and platform services. Ensure security requirements are embedded across all enterprise architecture, bridging on-prem and GCP environments
- Drive Security Assessment & Review: Conduct comprehensive security reviews of proposed architectures and applications in GCP and on-prem. Analyze software security, delivering actionable recommendations. Translate functional requirements into secure technical solutions
- Contribute to Cyber Defense: Apply understanding of vulnerability analysis, threat intelligence, and incident response to inform secure designs and enhance our defensive posture across the hybrid environment
- Mentor & Upskill the Team: Act as a subject matter expert, sharing GCP security best practices and architectural principles to develop the team's cloud security capabilities

Long-form content is having a resurgence. That’s great news for the e-reader industry, of which Rakuten’s Kobo battles with Amazon’s Kindle for ownership.
The e-reader giant has changed tack in recent years to pursue growth via integrations and partnerships. A notable example is its native device integration with Pocket, a wishlist app loved by millions of readers.
The company is hoping that these partnerships and product improvements will allow it to finally break the US market where it most struggles for market share with Kindle.
Amazon has consistently shown its willingness to drop prices to protect its position in any market it plays in. That means that Kobo will have to demonstrate true product superiority to make a dent while protecting its margins.
