- You bring a healthy skepticism of traditional marketing. (Our motto is: if Salesforce is doing it, we probably shouldn’t be). You love taking scrappy and creative approaches to stand out from the crowd
- You default to breaking down problems to first principles and are unphased by tackling big opportunities
- You have strong intuitions based on several years experience of seeing what sort of ads are performant and which are not
- Your experience could look atypical... Maybe you haven't worked on a big, fancy marketing team (that's ok!) - but you've earned your stripes on paid social in other ways. Side hustles count!
- Even though Scribe primarily sells to businesses, you’ve probably had DTC experience. PLG exposure is a plus but not essential
- You’ve built a creative paid ads program from the ground floor and feel comfortable going from 0 to 1
- You’re able to codify your learnings and communicate them to the broader team
- You default to running beautifully designed a/b/n tests to determine what drives maximum impact
- You have a minor dashboard obsession and can often be found checking your latest experiment performance first thing on a Saturday morning
- You are able to seamlessly direct and manage contractors to get video and static assets created
- You’re looking for an experience that hands you radical ownership - perhaps more responsibility than you’ve ever had in a professional experience
- You’re itching to drive the sort of impact that changes the trajectory of the company
What the job involves
- Wanted: a radically creative and performance-oriented marketer to lead the charge on Scribe’s rapidly growing paid social channels

- Be remote and enjoy the flexibility to work the hours when you operate at your peak. We have a distributed team and make things work across multiple time zones
- Spend 85% of your time dreaming up, researching, planning, and executing experiments and campaigns on paid social doing things like:
- Leading the ideation, optimization, and production of video content for use across paid ad channels like Meta, YouTube, and Tiktok, ensuring world-class creative
- Managing the testing, optimization, and strategy behind our paid social channels
- Get world-class creative produced for use across paid ad channels by managing external contractors and agencies as necessary
- Handle post-production improvements like video editing and cutting
- 15% of your time will be in synchronous meetings, mostly with the marketing and user acquisition teams
- Report to our Head of Digital Advertising, meeting weekly to chat through progress and plans
- Share learnings and progress monthly directly with our C-level team
- Participate in company All Hands meetings – we share company updates, product demos, user stories and we always save the last few minutes for gratitudes & shout outs
- Lots of Slack to share progress updates (no matter how big or small), cool things you’ve found or learned (read: Slacking us screenshots of ads you found on Facebook last night), or just to chat with the team
- Give and receive feedback on a lot of projects (beyond paid social) – we are a highly collaborative team that leans on each other for support often. We love going farther together
- Join monthly team social calls (only if you want to, they’re optional!) to just hang out for fun. Sometimes just chat, sometimes organized activities (last month was a show-and-tell with a photo of ourselves on the first day of school)
Our take
Knowledge workers spend, by some reports, around one-fifth of their time simply working out how to do their job. Where historically this might have demanded lengthy, labour-intensive user guides and training manuals, Scribe has brought to market an efficient new alternative, where all users need to do is record their screen whilst carrying out a task.
From there, the company creates text descriptions and interactive screenshots for each step, which can be shared with a simple link. Scribe has accrued an impressive customer base since it launched in beta back in 2020, with over 600,000 companies, including Adobe, Facebook, Tesla, and EA using its product and 94% of Fortune 500 businesses. Demand looks likely to continue, with hybrid workforces still widespread post-pandemic.
Founder Jennifer Smith is versed in the inefficiencies of knowledge-sharing within companies from a stint at Mckinsey, and her co-founder Aaron Podolny was previously CTO at automated customer service and sales tools company, Onward. With strong funding secured, Scribe’s impressive success to date looks only set to continue as it scales its team and invests in R&D to propel the development of its platform.
