Who you are
- CPA designation with strong accounting fundamentals
- 7+ years of progressive accounting experience, including experience in financial reporting
- Meaningful experience in financial reporting with exposure to IFRS
- Experience overseeing accounting processes in a complex or growing organization
- Experience in a manufacturing and/or SaaS business environment is an asset
- Public practice background is an asset
- Demonstrated ability to assess processes and implement improvements
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills
- Experience with ERP systems in multi-entity environments. Familiarity with NetSuite is an asset
- Strong communication skills and attention to detail
- Ability to operate with autonomy and proactively improve finance operations
What the job involves
- Reporting to the VP Finance, the Assistant Controller plays a key role in ensuring accurate, reliable, and scalable financial operations. This role oversees financial reporting, strengthens internal controls, and drives continuous improvement across accounting processes and systems
- This is a hands on role within a growing organization, suited to an experienced Assistant Controller seeking broader operational exposure and a path toward a future Controller position
- Oversee the integrity and completeness of financial records and reporting
- Ensure compliance with IFRS, as applicable
- Support multi entity consolidation and foreign currency translation
- Review complex journal entries, reconciliations, and financial analyses
- Oversee month end close and reporting processes
- Partner with the accounting team to resolve reporting issues
- Serve as day to day contact for external auditors
- Coordinate audit deliverables and support audit planning
- Maintain documentation to ensure audit readiness
- Support interactions with external advisors as needed
- Assess accounting processes and internal controls
- Implement scalable improvements to workflows and controls
- Develop and maintain process documentation and SOPs
- Drive continuous improvement across accounting operations
- Identify opportunities to improve accounting workflows and data flows
- Leverage NetSuite, Vena, and other systems to improve efficiency
- Partner with internal stakeholders to align operational and accounting processes
- Partner with accounting team members to improve workflows
- Provide guidance on accounting approaches and processes
- Support team development and evolving organizational needs
- Provide mentorship to junior accounting staff
- Support the VP Finance in scaling the finance function
- Participate in cross functional initiatives impacting financial operations
- Key role in strengthening and scaling accounting operations within a growing organization
- Broad exposure across financial reporting, systems, controls, and cross functional finance initiatives
- Close partnership with senior leadership and meaningful influence on how the finance function evolves
- Clear pathway toward expanded leadership responsibility as the organization scales
Our take
The big issue with handheld ultrasound isn't the device - it's reading the images. These tools are now portable and affordable enough for everyday use, but interpreting blurry, grayscale scans (especially of complex organs like the heart) still requires specialist training. So that leaves many primary care doctors relying on referrals, which can slow down diagnosis for common but serious issues.
Clarius Mobile Health builds handheld ultrasound devices paired with AI software to tackle this issue and interpret scans in real time. Its T-Mode feature splits the screen to show both the standard image and a color-coded, labeled version, making anatomy much easier to understand. Clarius has expanded this across multiple use cases and developed 16 AI models (6 FDA-cleared), with its devices used for nearly 7M scans worldwide.
This is obviously a huge deal, the company unsurprisingly reached profitability in 2025 and reported around 20% growth, while expanding to more than 70 countries. Its focus on making ultrasound easier to use (not just more portable) puts it in a very good position for the future. If this kind of adoption continues, it could help turn ultrasound into a routine tool in everyday primary care.
