Role
Who you are
- Experience in software engineering, regardless of the language. We prefer to match with candidates that have the mindset we seek and then provide space for individuals to pick-up the required technology (again, flexibility is key here)
- Work closely with product designers, product managers and other engineers to deliver great experiences to our customers using your great understanding of React and other architectural frameworks
- System design, architecture, design patterns, object oriented programming, cloud native architectures
- We value engineers who have a strong product-centric mindset
- Lean/Agile process. We want you to be involved in all phases of the development lifecycle and bring your unique talents to the process
- Brilliant team player - communicate and collaborate well with product owners, designers, developers, test engineers and people outside the team
Desirable
- Solid web experience would be great, with a strong understanding of React and other architectural frameworks
- Experience with both functional and object-oriented programming
- Experience working on projects supporting multiple devices/browsers
- Up-to-date with the latest Web features
- Test automation experience
What the job involves
- We are looking for a full-stack engineer who is passionate about solving interesting problems and genuinely enjoys the craft of programming
- We don’t expect a master of all trades, but someone more experienced in frontend who is flexible enough to hop to the other side if needed and who is able to reason about complete end-to-end software architectures
- A T-shaped, well-rounded, software engineer that doesn’t see themselves fitting into a small very well defined box
- We’re a closely knit team who tackle challenges together - expect a lot of pair programming and rich discussions in code reviews
- We have a cultural strong bias for action, like to move fast, adjust, adapt, then reflect and seek ways to improve every day
- Experience working in a Lean environment is desired, and we want help to drive the shipment of well tested software frequently. TDD and good testing practices are highly valued here
- As a senior engineer you’ll get to mentor and guide the more junior team members while growing your own career with the support of mentors and coaches throughout the business

As more business than ever is conducted online, identity verification has become key as companies look to prevent the rising tide of identity fraud. Onfido allows businesses to verify a user’s identity automatically using AI to verify uploaded identity documents against a range of biometric markers and online footprint metrics.
As a disruptor in a field sorely needing innovation, Onfido has built a commanding market lead. However it now faces increased competition from the likes of Stripe, Persona and IDNow. Onfido has maintained its market lead through strong, focused R&D, winning it multiple awards including the CogX Best AI product in FinTech for 2022.
Onfido has seen a staggering growth in revenue over the past few years and its customers include the likes of President's Choice Financial, Revolut and Deliveroo. Having raised a large amount of investment funding and achieved sustained profitability, it has now been acquired by Entrust, a leader in payments, identities, and data security. This new chapter for Onfido will open its services up to Entrust's large customer base, a mutually beneficial move.
