Role
Who you are
- You have 4+ years of experience with Machine Learning, and have advanced knowledge of e.g. NLP, clustering, recommender systems and/or ranking algorithms
- You have 4+ years of experience in python, and experience in ensuring coding standards and best practices
- You have a strong drive to understand our data and users and build impactful data products
- Your models have gone to production and you have experience in iterating and improving them
- You have experience with Big Data technologies and languages, e.g. Spark and MLFlow
- Preferably, you have a degree in computer science, mathematics, physics or other quantitative fields
What the job involves
- As a Senior Data Scientist, you will work on models that improve the user experience on our platform
- You are involved in all phases of creating data products, from understanding the business need and data exploration, to the productionizing of the models that create an impact on the lives of so many people
- You will work in a multidisciplinary team with fellow data scientists and engineers, together you are responsible for building and improving these models that change our platform
- As a senior, you take on a leading role in ensuring high standards for our machine learning solutions and (coding) best practices
- You also drive a data-driven mentality by presenting your work to the company and brainstorming with teams on the endless possibilities of data
- You find great opportunities to improve our platform with data products
- You build data products that impact millions of users, from data exploration through model selection and evaluation to implementation
- You work on interesting models, like recommendations or search ranking
- You take on a leading role in designing new products and ensuring high standards for our machine learning solutions and code
- You coach other team members
- You work with stakeholders to define needs, report on progress and present findings
- The way of working in the team is elevated because of your contributions to our data capabilities
- You drive the data-driven mentality of the company by presenting and brainstorming about data and its possibilities

Adevinta Spain is part of the global Adevinta family, which is publicly listed in its native Norway. The company as a whole is one of the world’s largest classified marketplace companies, boasting a portfolio of around 50 brands in over a dozen countries, and employing close to 10,000 people.
The Spanish arm owns a number of the country's top digital classifieds marketplaces including Fotocasa, InfoJobs, and Milanuncios. At a time when larger companies are acquiring scores of eCommerce startups – a concept dubbed “eCommerce rollups” – it’s really interesting that Adevinta seems to have made quite the head start.
Indeed the fact that Adevinta isn’t going after D2C brands, but the marketplaces themselves, is clever. Considering that well over $2 trillion is spent annually on online marketplaces, Adevinta Spain (as well as Adevinta as a whole) is operating from a position of strength in an extremely lucrative market, especially since a buyout by Blackstone and Permira in November 2023 was initiated. This will further bolster Adevinta's position as a market leader under strong new ownerhsip.

- Our work model prioritises remote work combined with face-to-face dynamics in the office that help us connect and make strategic decisions as a team.
