Who you are

2+ years of experience leading software engineering teams with a history of developing highly available, scalable, and robust services for SaaS products
5+ years of experience with either Ruby on Rails or React as a software engineer
Experience with measuring performance of both people and products
Experience growing software development engineering teams through hiring and career development
You are passionate about user experience and creating the best in class tools for ecommerce store owners
Strong technical background with hands-on experience in software engineering
Excellent project management skills, with a track record of delivering complex projects on time
Ability to effectively communicate and collaborate with cross-functional teams

What the job involves

As an Engineering Manager at Shogun, you will lead and mentor a team of talented engineers, driving the development and implementation of innovative solutions that enhances our platform for our merchants
You will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality software, ensure adherence to best practices, and maintain a strong focus on user experience
Your role will involve managing project timelines, optimizing workflows, and fostering a culture of continuous improvement and collaboration
This role will collaborate with our Product and Support teams
It will report to the Director of Engineering
Lead, mentor, and manage a team of engineers, providing guidance and support to ensure their professional growth and success
Oversee the development and implementation of new features and enhancements for Shogun
Collaborate with our Director of Product, designers, and other stakeholders to define project requirements and deliver high-quality software
Ensure adherence to best practices in coding, testing, and deployment, maintaining high standards of software quality
Manage project timelines, resource allocation, and prioritization to meet the company vision
Conduct regular performance reviews and provide constructive feedback to team members

Our take

Shogun offers retailers an eCommerce platform that allows them to easily build fast-running, front-end pages that sit on top of eCommerce back-ends run on the likes of Shopify and BigCommerce. The company’s solutions are used by a selection of big-name brands like Fila, K Swiss, MVMT and Leesa.

At the company’s core is the freedom it gives retailers when selling their goods online. Shopify users are limited in the templates they can use without custom code, and whilst major online retailers like Amazon dominate the eCommerce space, there’s still a desire for brands to present themselves how they want to, and engage with their customers in their own way.

Shogun is coming along at an opportune time, particularly for non-technical small to medium business owners, who already have access to low code/no code services like Shopify to manage the backend, easier payment options like Stripe, and an array of logistics companies to take care of shipping. Shogun is sure to double down on this increasing call for individualism over the foreseeable future by developing more tools to help its users build stronger relationships with their customers.
